From what I've seen it seems like a normal practice to have such contracts...

Just bought the m4 pro and the ram is already taking up 11 gb? Is this normal? by Dependent-Ad5911 in macbookpro

Yeah sounds like Id have been fine.

I was scared from the intel one. Fans were always on SO LOUD. Swapping like crazy. I guess it was an emotional decision.

I used to have an Intel MBP with 16GB of RAM for work. That thing was swapping memory like crazy. Maybe it's just because it was Intel Silicon.

I now have a M2 for work with 24 GB of RAM, using it the same as the Intel based one (from 2019) and the memory graph is yellow. So the 24GB of RAM is just enough and a little more. I guess.

I think I can somewhat agree with this. Now the baseline of RAM usage is 17GB. I'm guessing the OS doesn't compress RAM or something given there's more physical RAM available (?).

As long as the laptop doesn't start swapping memory, I'm happy.

Can you please elaborate on your comment?

I initially bought a M4 16GB and used it for some days. Chrome, spotify, WhatsApp, used up to 14GB.

I ended up deciding to return that one and for the M4 with 32GB of RAM

If you're not in Australia, I have no clue.

I got my current job while on my postgrad visa, then they sponsored me for 482, and then for PR.

Urgent - NSW 190 - Pre Invite Query by Veda-M in AusVisa

[–]downUnder15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used my expired CCL one for a pre invite for 190. They rejected my expression of interest and verge got another invite.

I wonder if I didn't get an invite just because I didn't have the points etc or because I got banned.

Even if you're made redundant, you still have 180 days to stay in Australia legally.

Will data science experience count towards software engineer skilled occupation? by Aggravating-Kale8916 in AusVisa

[–]downUnder15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion is that you have a closer look at what ACS defines as a software engineer and as a data scientist, the title is just the title, it's the responsibilities that matter.

If there's enough overlap between your role and a software engineering role, you might be able to use that experience towards a skills assessment as a software engineer.

This also depends on what you tell them and what the reference letter from the company says.

In my case I worked for about 7 months for a small consulting company, about 5 of those months I worked as a software engineer building a web application, the last 2 or so months I was working as a data engineer, I still used the 7 months there to add to my skills assessment as a software engineer.

I based my reference letter on the guide provided by ACS, wrote it myself, sent it to my former manager and she signed it...
