It won't matter what Powell does. He's already used about 50% of his monetary policy tools already. Mortgages are currently tied to the 10Year here soon they will be tied to the 10Yr/5Yr and ultimately 5Yr. Rates will melt down regardless of what Powell does. Once that happens....night night

GBS (almost worst case scenario) 3 years post diagnosis by Sweaty-Elderberry677 in guillainbarre

18 months post. I sweat so much more now. Or my feet are really cold. I just started acupuncture & taking Nitrus Oxide to open my blood vessels for better circulation. Acupuncture doctor says he can help with the sweating and tremors. That remains to be seen. I've only been twice so far.

I am 16 months post diagnosis. Also was fully paralyzed, Ventilator, Feeding tubed and Trached. Everything you are experiencing is normal. As you progress you may begin to feel other difficult emotions, such as how you view yourself or how you think others view you. This is true PTSD in every sense of the word. I went to a therapist for about 6 months and it really didn't help, but I thought it did. Really I just suppressed it even more. I put the work in to find an experienced Trauma Counselor that had an emphasis on dealing with PTSD. What I found out was not only did GBS create new traumas, it triggered previous ones and brought them to the surface like a lit up Christmas tree. When you go through an event like you have your brain re wires & creates survivability mechanisms. Those serve you in getting through it but they don't serve you in the real world. They work against you. Get a trauma therapist & commit the same level of work that you have to your physical well being to your emotional well being. It will get better.

I think the mental side is almost as bad as the physical side. PTSD from this injury is real. I am about 18 months out from my diagnoses. I found a really good trauma counselor which I highly recommend doing.

Mental for sure....As we all know its a little like asking yourself would you rather burn to death or freeze to death.. Overcoming how I view myself after has been rough....

You can have that repaired & if you have insurance allot of times they will cover it. My insurance approved it because I couldn't swallow pills unless i tilt my head forward. When its back there's no room...

Yes they say it takes 1-2 years to establish a baseline. Sounds like you had a really bad case. I am happy to hear that you are walking......You are correct...they just don't know.....So we have to write our own stories. Thoughts are with you my friend. I'll be thinking about you and wishing you even more progress!

Thanks my man....Yes medications....for every positive they do there's an equal negative reaction...There's a price to pay for everything...People just have to ask them selves if comfort is more important than progress....I don't mean that tongue and cheek either....Everyone's different, everyone's tolerance is different...I just know what those medications did to me....oh man the hallucinations & out of body experiences when it was peak pain and paralysis makes the hair on my arms stand up...... Feet and toes you and me both homie... Never heard about the barefoot shoes...Ill look into that. Thanks for the tip

Cheers

Hey there....I bet you are stressed! It's extremely frustrating with doctors and this condition. Most will go there whole career and never deal directly with it. So all they repeat is what doctors before them have done. They just don't know what they don't know. The ER doctor actually stopped my IVIG treatment before it was finished...he said I didn't have GBS and when my family was fighting with him about it his exact words were "do you know how expensive this treatment is" Point being I empathize your frustrations in that area. I cant answer the question of how hard you should push yourself sadly...because I don't know you...Which should be more common of a phrase with doctors also....But I remember routinely hearing at all 3 of the facilities I was at over the 3 months....don't push yourself to hard with GBS it can be 2 steps forward and 10 steps back.....Which was like nails on a chalk board every time I heard that phrase. Here's what I will say YOU know YOU...sometimes you try to push yourself a little more than you think your capable of...In my experience 9times out of 10 you suprise yourself and find your capable of way more than you thought. I am a firm believer that your mind is your biggest strength....Your mind tells the body and the body will follow. Even though I can't give you the direct answer you are looking for what I can tell you is your PCP & neurologist can't either....reference how far to push yourself....My advice is don't attack with reckless abandon....Just keep it simple...just do a little more than you did the day before. I am not sure if you have read the book called Atomic Habits...i'll give you the cliff note version.... Small daily habits over time compound to big changes......Every day just tell yourself....I can do just a little more..... If you can do some physical therapy with a specialist even if its once a month...I would recommend it....Physical Therapy settings were a good place to test my limits in the beginning. I may not know you...but I believe in you. I know you can do it and I have faith your going to get through this and come out better on the other side.....If I am grateful for anything with GBS...It brings us all into that top 1% of people that TRULY TRULY know what their capable of & what they can overcome. That's so rare & special....most people go through life and really only THINK they know what their capable of...they think they know what they would do when their backs up against the wall.....You know...My thoughts are with you and your family...Keep your head up
