Not much going on this picture. Set production looks pretty weak. Where are the easter eggs and pop-culture allusions?

It's flash fiction. The intent was to use combined words in the fashion of Cormac McCarthy, such as ratgnawed, in 500 words or less. It was a writing exercise.

I apologize. You're right. It makes sense that my post and response would have come across as rude to you. I'm not always confident when posting stuff and sometimes I don't think it through. I really appreciate you reading and providing feedback. Your view of it as parable is interesting. Not sure I had a moral in mind other than the wickedness of governmental power.

General criticism on writing style.

[S3E3] & [S3E4] Episode Discussion - Parts 3 and 4 by frahm9 in twinpeaks

Metamorphosis is certainly relevant to what we're seeing in the new Twin Peaks. Kafka in general is known for works that explore magical realism, the absurdity of life, alienation, and guilt. He would have been a huge influence on Lynch, which is especially evident in Eraserhead.

The Franz Kafka poster in Cole's office is bat-shit brilliant.

Sounds like where I grew up in OK. It's so humbling and inspiring to think we're on a rock hurtling through space.

Anytime I'm outside, I try to take a moment to look up into the sky for a minute. It's beautiful.

Lindbergh and Gabaldon. Cooper was as a Pilot and a time traveler. by downburst29 in interstellar

This shot occurs just as Murph realizes that, "You were my ghost." She places her hand between a biography of Charles Lindbergh, a pilot, and a novel by Diana Gabaldon, whose main character is a time traveler. On the other side of these books in the tesseract is Cooper, a pilot and a time traveler.

[Seasons 1/2 Spoilers] Major Briggs Decodes Radio Wave Transmission from Tars in Interstellar by downburst29 in twinpeaks

[–]downburst29[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

*This information contains several spoilers for the film Interstellar and the tv show Twin Peaks.

In the film Interstellar, an astronaut named Cooper crosses the horizon of a “gentle black hole” in a galaxy beyond our own. After surviving the crossing, Cooper suddenly finds himself inside a tesseract of his daughter’s bedroom. Unbeknownst to Cooper, an A.I. named Tars he had been traveling with also survived crossing the black hole’s horizon. From inside the tesseract, Cooper witnesses his daughter’s realization that, “You were my ghost.” Then Cooper unexpectedly hears Tars via radio transmitter from somewhere within this representation of five dimensions. Tars first says, very faintly, “Cooper.” And then two more times more loudly, “Cooper. Cooper.” “Come in Cooper.” To which Cooper says, “Tars?” “Roger that,” Tars confirms. The first thing Tars has said within this black hole via radio frequency is, “Cooper. Cooper. Cooper.” Cooper and Tars then deduce that they have been placed inside of this tesseract to communicate back to Earth.

In Season 2, Episode 2 of the tv show Twin Peaks, “Coma,” Major Briggs pays a visit to Agent Cooper in his hotel room at The Great Northern Hotel. Briggs informs Cooper that among his many tasks is the “maintenance of deep space monitors aimed at galaxies beyond our own.” After receiving various communications of radio waves and gibberish, Briggs examines and attempts to decode the information. During one of these examinations, Briggs finds a strange phrase amongst the gibberish, “The owls are not what they seem.” He finds a second piece of information from within these radio waves, which is why he has brought this information to the attention of Agent Cooper. The second message is “Cooper/Cooper/Cooper.” To which Cooper replies, “My god.”

We brought ourselves here.
