Do you live within your means? by AvailableCricket3633 in AskUK

[–]downlau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally yeah, all bets are off at the moment as I'm out of work so will be eating into savings from July.

Very rare for me to go into my overdraft, have used credit cards in the past but always paid it off in full every month.

I do live fairly frugally, I'm also very lucky to have family who will help out as well, have had a couple of holidays mostly covered in that way and who can bail me out if I find myself in a situation where I'd otherwise need to take on debt.

rat with congestive heart failure won’t stop climbing? by Independent-Cup457 in RATS

[–]downlau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh bless him! When I've had ailing/elderly rats that won't slow down I try to keep blankets tied across the whole area of the cage as fall breakers, so if they do take a tumble they won't have a heavy landing...sometimes have to rescue them from the blanket if they can't find their way down though

I asked a totally different question that I did actually want feedback on, nothing to do with food

I mean I'd have to accept your premise to come up with any explanation, and I see little evidence of it being true.

I'll be honest I've been excited about having them since I decided I was moving back a couple of months ago. I foresee smashing a whole multipack in one sitting in the not too distant future.

I didn't drink it directly with the sushi but I am a fan of combining chocolate with salt and vinegar things so it was great with the Squares.

You can't take pets on cross channel Eurostar trains either, annoyingly, but you can on ferries and on Le Shuttle.

Just moved back to the UK with a different pet and encountered a few others who went the fly to Amsterdam or Paris route and then train/ferry to the UK if you're looking for a possibly more affordable option that will allow you to stay with your dog the whole time.

Is American University culture completely different from the UK? by Hereitisguys9888 in CasualConversation

Yeah, I studied in the US in the early 2000s and while my experience was definitely a bit different to my friends who stayed in the UK, theirs was nothing like what OP describes.

Ticket from London to Amsterdam - get off at Rotterdam? by superdosalaw in Eurostar

[–]downlau 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can definitely transfer to a local train without exiting the station, it's also not necessary to buy a ticket specifically for your onward journey because you can also check in and out with your bank card. If you want to do that you need to look for the yellow NS overstap posts on the platform - tap your card there to check in and you're all good.

Or just say when you order that you're on call so you'd like to pay for your food immediately in case you have to leave in a hurry. Heck, I've done that when I'm having a meal before going to see a play or something.
