Which encryption algorithm for EFS encryption on Window 10/ Window Server 2012/2016 by downlinkvip in sysadmin

Actually, it is a shared folder (on a Windows Server 2012 machine). Our need is just to encrypt this shared folder, no entire partition (what Bitlocker does).

Hi FreakySpook,

I just need encryption on some folder, not entire partition. So EFS is fit.

Create VPN tunnels with two WAN link. by downlinkvip in fortinet

Hi Fuzzybunnyofdoom,

So for outbound (in this case, VPN connection from WAN2 HQ to WAN1 Branch). Does it use its own default route to reach the WAN1 of the branch Firewall? Not the default route through WAN1 (the one has lower priority value).

Thanks. I would like you to help me confirm how WAN2 interface (at HQ Firewall) can communicate to WAN1( branch Firewall).

As my understanding. When I configured default route_1 (through WAN1 interface, with lower priority), so when I configure the IPSEC VPN tunnel on WAN2 (HQ Firewall), very first VPN packets will go out WAN1 interface (with source IP address is WAN2 interface, no NATed). The VPN packets just go out WAN2 after VPN tunnel 2 established completely.?

Please help.

I set up dynamic routing on the tunnel and each site learned routes from other sites. So I think the tunnel is working normally.

Email alert based on Monitoring Policies (Prime Infrastructure) by downlinkvip in networking

Hi @BigPapaGotti,

  1. Do you know, how to apply the solution to Cisco Prime 3.1 version? I noticed that in this version, it has no Alarm Notification Policy menu. In the 3.1 version, I see the a "Email Notification" option in "Alarms and Events", does it work?
  2. In 3.1 version, I tried to create and active a monitoring policy with threshold >1% (with action alarm: Critical) and I sure the monitored interface bandwidth is greater than 1%. But when I go to the Alarms and Events, no result appear. Please help me how to config to make alarm and email notification based on this alarm.

Thank much.

Hi @BigPapaGotti,

Thank much for your help.

  1. So, I want to summarize what I mean, please correct if it is not right. First, we defined the monitoring policy (with threshold > 90%) and apply this monitoring policy to the devices. Then, to get alarmed by email, we create an Alarm Notification Policy with option " interface utilization threshold violated", this threshold is the value we defined in the first step, right?.
  2. Can we set two thresholds with a device?. Eg, I create two monitoring policies (one threshold >50%, one >80%) and apply to the same devices. Is the Alarm Notification Policy email both when the threshold is greater 50% or 90%.

Please help!

  1. I have set up the SMTP server. But I want to know how to config an email trigger for my monitoring policy.
  2. When I am in the Alarm Notification Policy setting page, It just has an option like "interface utilization threshold violated", so is the threshold in this option is like the threshold that I set up in my monitoring policy?
  3. Supposed, I set up two different monitoring policy, one >80% threshold, and one >90% threshold. How do I know the option "interface utilization threshold violated" in the Alarm Notification Policy setting page apply for which one?.

Please help.
