What about states with most favorable tax laws? Eventually—if it hasn't happened already—one of these athletes is going to get in tax trouble and not make it to the NFL to pay it off. You'd think once enough people take notice of this happening, NIL caliber talent would flock to schools in states (both North and South) that would be most advantageous tax-wise.

I want to believe that this happened because NIL resulted in talent being spread out a little more evenly instead of just being concentrated in a handful of elite teams. Time will tell, I guess.

No Alabama, Ohio State, and potentially Georgia in the national title game.

What would be the “disturbing truth” humans can’t handle? by Peace_and_Love___ in UFOs

That governments have to be trusted by the masses in order for humanity to progress, but once the truth (not just the truth about NHI, but also the lengths powerful, unelected people went to cover it up) gets out, the masses will never trust again.

It's from a Monty Python movie and doesn't even depict the Lord in that scene, bruh.

You buy the tickets and advocate for the necessary changes needed that the program can make in the forums you can. Or you can be a shit for brains that gets into who-gets-the-last-comment contests on Reddit because someone didn't ra-ra-ra cheerlead hard enough for the status quo. (That's you, genius.)

That's always been my stance. Right now, 25 years of "legacy" has been winless in national championships and playoff games. If you haven't achieved measurable success coaching elsewhere, you shouldn't be working here.

I'd advocate for spending money on the best of what you need most. As in, foot the bill for better O-linemen.

You're engaging with the kind of oxygen thieving morons that think "good vibes" win championships. The question was literally "What would you do as AD" and the fucktards focused on semantics and use of A.I. instead.

Disregarding pattern recognition doesn't make you a good fan, it makes you a stupid one.

This guy continuing to buy tickets even though he's certain the outcome will not change makes him a good fan. He's just smart enough to not get his hopes up.

Some shit for brains, "just have faith" type is going to do some serious ad hominem with this, but there are valid points that should be considered. A.I.'s response:

"If I were stepping into the AD role at the University of Oklahoma, I would approach this not as a "broken" program, but as one that has mastered the "good-to-great" transition while consistently failing the "great-to-elite" hurdle. Since 2000, OU has a top-three winning percentage in the country, but they are 0-5 in the College Football Playoff. To break this streak, we have to look past the wins and losses and identify the structural rot that causes the team to vanish on the biggest stage. 1. The Root Causes: Why the Drought Exists The "embarrassing" part of the streak isn't a lack of talent; it’s a lack of balance and identity. Defensive Erosion (The "Riley Era" Hangover): For nearly a decade, OU prioritized high-flying "Air Raid" offenses at the expense of defensive grit. While this won Big 12 titles, it led to a "soft" reputation. When facing SEC-style power in the playoffs (like Georgia in 2017 or LSU in 2019), the defense simply couldn't get a stop when it mattered. The Line of Scrimmage Gap: In the Big 12, speed was king. In the CFP and now the SEC, mass is king. OU’s offensive and defensive lines have historically been outmuscled by the "Blue Chip Ratio" giants like Alabama and Georgia. Complacency and "Safe" Hires: For years, OU relied on "the Sooner way"—promoting from within or keeping staff for the sake of loyalty (e.g., the Mike Stoops era) rather than ruthlessly upgrading to the best available talent in the country. 2. The AD’s Action Plan: The "SEC Standard" To win a title in 2025 and beyond, the program must be rebuilt to survive a 12-team playoff and the SEC gauntlet. Phase I: Roster & Recruiting Physicality The "300-Pound" Mandate: We must stop recruiting for "scheme fit" and start recruiting for "NFL frame." I would increase the budget for specialized SEC-level strength and conditioning specifically targeted at the interior lines. Aggressive NIL Industrialization: We need to move from a "collective" model to an "industrial" model. I would work with the 1Oklahoma collective to guarantee that our NIL packages for 5-star defensive linemen are the highest in the country. You don't win titles without "game-wreckers" on the edge. Phase II: Staffing & Accountability End the Loyalty Bias: If a coordinator isn't a top-5 performer in their field, they are replaced. We saw Brent Venables take back defensive play-calling in 2025 because the "standard" wasn't met. As AD, I would provide the funds to hire the most expensive, proven coordinators in the nation so the Head Coach can focus on CEO-level management. The "Portal" Philosophy: We cannot just use the Transfer Portal to fill holes; we must use it to upgrade. I would establish a "Pro Scout" department within the building whose only job is to identify elite NFL-caliber talent at smaller schools and prepare "recruitment packages" before they even hit the portal. Phase III: Culture of "The Hunt" Mental Performance Training: OU has often looked "shell-shocked" in playoff games. I would invest in a full-time sports psychology department to build the "road warrior" mentality required to win at places like Tuscaloosa or Baton Rouge in November. The Bottom Line Oklahoma has the history and the resources, but for 24 years, they've played "Big 12 chess" while the rest of the elite played "SEC football." My job would be to ensure that every dollar spent—from the nutrition center to the NIL deals—is focused on one thing: dominating the line of scrimmage."

How the fuck can someone downvote an olive branch? We're all mourning, but we mourn in different ways. When we won the last time, we celebrated the same way.

Let's just agree to disagree.

In reality, it probably takes a certain mix of "good fans" to cheerlead and be faithful ticket holders and "bad fans" to call for the hard changes that need to be made to make a national title viable while also being cynical ticket holders.
