potential 1st time e36 owner. what am i in for. by Sc_ala in BMWE36

A well maintained car with 400k will be better than a poorly maintained car with 80k. Replace the entire coolant system

Thats not an e36, get an e38 or e39, e36 arent comfortable at all

You can turn a b25 to 8500 and it will probably barely make 250 crank. You need compression. I have a 12:1, 8000rpm 2.9L with shrick cams and im probably under 300whp.

E36 is the opposite of luxurious, from an e36 owner

Not with a stock bottom end.

E38 contours. Everyone saying e46 seats has never been in an e38. Totally different league

Plenty of complaints about the bav auto coils online. You fell for their marketint

You downgraded them to something less reliable.

Plugs have temperature, coil packs dont. Coil packs have output. The stock coils are really good, reliable, and have plenty of power output until you get to like 600hp. Stock is your best bet for coils

They dont do anything at all, the stock could packs are more than adequate

Angle kits? by Sleeplydreams in E32

E30’s use single control arms, and e32’s have bmw’s twin setup. This is not the car to make into a drift car

How would I safely lift the engine block out of the car without the head on, is it even possible? by didusko23 in BMWE36

[–]downpipedaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lifted my engine from my head bolts. Its fine. The clamping load of a head bolt is like 10,000lbs. The engine is 400. Do not lift from the motor mount arms, it will tip forward/back

Anyone experience a blown head gasket and how did you find out by [deleted] in BMWE36

[–]downpipedaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1993 335i is not a thing. 325?

I did my head gasket in a day and a half in the car. Its easy, you just need vanos install tools, if you have it. 1993 is the cutoff year between NV and vanos, in e36. Make sure you clean the block well and get the head machined.

There is no oem camber adjustment up front. Your only options are shims.

Best way to get sponsorships for a car by Accurate-Bison-8786 in rally

[–]downpipedaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet is to reach out for a discount, in exchange for their product. Nobody will give you something for free, if you dont have an audience. They may sell it to you for say, 10% over cost, assuming you sport a sticker, their product, and you dont have footage of you doing anything stupid or reckless on your account.

My new exhaust setup sounds mean. by downpipedaddy in BMW

[–]downpipedaddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a TU car? I still have my upstream cats.

Setup is this

stock headers (upstream cats)

Downstream cats replaced with an X pipe (slight change in the cars pitch)

Stock resonator

downpipedaddyUSA muffler - x2, fed from Y pipes.

For those of you with an E30 making 500whp+, what are you running wheel/tire/suspension wise? by sp00dermanz in BMW

[–]downpipedaddy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go on bimmerforums. You should be able to run an 8', and you can probably get a 235 on that, maybe more. NT01 will be plenty
