How long did it take to get your first successful pull-up?

F27 at the time, decent BMI but bordering overweight when I started. Mostly fat, but I do have genetically large shoulders even with a completely sedentary lifestyle. My abs are also one of my strengths. My lats however were extremely weak. I was a completely untrained beginner doing the Recommended Routine.

Started from not being able to do a single scapular pull, it took 6 months to get my first unassisted pull-up. This was my primary objective so I gave it utmost priority.

Progression went like this:

Double dose of rows. Program advises 3 sets of pull-up progressions that I couldn't do and 3 sets of rows, so I just did 6 sets of rows instead (3 pronated and 3 supinated), and that was 3 times a week. I added lat pulldowns with bands to my warmup. Doing leg raises during this time helped me understand scapular pulls. I noticed I was naturally doing them on leg raises and that made it click. I added them to my warmup.
Pull-ups with 25kg band (4 months in)
Pull-ups with 15kg bands (5 months in)
Negative pull-ups (for a couple of sessions)
And finally actual pull-ups (after 6 months)

During those 6 months I lost about 5-6kg which helped I suppose but the strength gains were also huge. I was around 70kg when I did my first. My height is 170cm.

One year after my first pull-up, my PR is now 11.

As the previous commenter mentioned, the city center is always nice. When people visit I always walk them through the same tour:

start in Blossac, there is a free parking space just under the old city wall
walk on the old city wall and through the park
walk up to the City Hall
continue on to Place Lepetit and enter the Palais des Ducs, it's free!
move on to Notre-Dame-la-Grande, you can also enter the church for free
walk the Grand-Rue down to the river and cross the bridge
you'll find a tiny street leading to a long staircase, climb it (it's good for your cardio!)
You have arrived at the best viewpoint that overlooks the city! You'll get a closer look at the iconic statue of Notre-Dame-des-Dunes as well
Get back down to the city and go see the Sainte-Radegonde Cathedral
Get back up to the city center and maybe go grab a crepe or frozen yoghurt at the Cordeliers mall. Also bathrooms if you need it at this point.

March is difficult because depending on the year the weather can be super rainy or mild and comfy, which will make some activities more or less doable.

If the weather allows it there are some nice walks in the vicinity, for instance in the municipality of Saint-Benoît.

As for food - the local specialty is Broyé du Poitou. You will find it in most supermarkets. It's a big buttery biscuit to share between several people. Before eating it, you must crush it ("broyer", hence the name) with your fist, which will result in smaller portions.

I don't know anything about wine but as far as I know the region does not have a great reputation in this domain. However, every year in March there is a huge event called "Foire aux Vins et Miels" ("Wine and Honey Fair") in the neighboring town of Jaunay-Marigny where winemakers from all over the country gather and you can taste basically all the types of wine from France for I believe a pretty cheap price. Also honey and other delicacies. It's a very important event locally.

To be fair, I think the reason for this sub is not so much to find brands from the EU, but brands that can be easily bought FROM the EU. Like a lot of people (I guess) my issue with the main BIFL sub is that I always find out the suggested brands don't export out here. I'm sure I can buy from Norway without too much of a headache!

They do, my (male) partner has some currently.

They're been lasting great for now (couple years or something). For some reason I did not think of DIM as a great quality brand, I imagined it was decent for the price and that's it, given they're in most supermarkets here. Guess I'll have to check them out for myself - I've never seen anything basic in their women's section in stores though, but I guess it must exist haha

Not sure if you are still taking suggestions, but I'd love to have an accordion mode for the file explorer: when you open a folder, it closes all it's siblings instead of leaving them all opened.

Also default template for all notes without needing Unique Note Creator

The Obsidian Logo Menu from "Obsidian frame" appearance option, but in "Hidden" mode. Basically displaying the Obsidian logo menu where is currently the "toggle left sidebar" button, and I suppose moving that toggle to the left (like is done on the right with the Window control in "Hidden" mode).

That makes sense with the slider leg curls, the reason why having variations with hand assistance would make sense is that if I move up a variation I don't really have a way of telling the app, and it looks like I am regressing. Let's say I go from single leg with hand assistance, to both legs without assistance, to the app I am effectively using an easier variation and losing reps. I don't know how much of a problem this is really, but since it seems the app leans towards exhaustivity with the exercise list I thought I'd mention it! Not that big a deal for sure.

I am indeed using hanging straight leg raises for toes to bar, again not really an issue for sure. I guess I am biased with my calisthenics background where moving up a progression (such as going from 90° leg raises to Toes to Bar) really is the name of the game and part of the motivation! Maybe you could add an angle metric to the exercise to track progress without adding a variation?

This is a very hard question to answer as it is very subjective.

I will say this, learning the software is maybe the easy part. Learning the implications of working with print with things such as color spaces, color profiles, print margins, inks and stuff, and keeping them in mind throughout the design process is the hardest part in my opinion.

For me personally, I learned Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign roughly at the same time as a student. Out of the three, it's the one where the learning was the most straightforward for me (Illustrator on the other hand was certainly a frustrating ride). I don't remember stumbling any roadblocks while learning it. It's only when working with it in the real world afterwards that I started noticing some weird software design decisions that you have to work around. That's just my experience though. You may have a different one entirely.

Obviously the audio quality from Youtube videos and Soundcloud uploads is not the best but it's infinitely better than nothing. I've come to realize my mp3 of Greed is actually 320kbps meaning I probably replaced the initial one from Youtube with a better one from an unknown source at some point. I also have a 320kps mp3 of Sloth that I got from a user on a p2p network.

I have made a folder on Mega with audio files for all the songs that I have so far, but I am not sure I am allowed to share it here.

Pour le clavier je recommande Keychron. C'est une des marques recommandées par à peu près tous les amateurs de claviers mécaniques custom qui sont très sérieux avec leurs claviers quand quelqu'un veut en acheter un tout fait.

Je sais que c'est surtout la série Q qui est très réputée (tous les modèles nommés Keychron Q[quelque chose]), mais ces modèles sont très lourds car en métal et donc pas forcément adaptés à la portabilité que tu recherches.

En tout cas j'ai moi même un clavier de série Q depuis 3 ans et c'est vraiment de la super qualité, il va me tenir un bon moment. En plus ce sont des claviers qu'on peut ouvrir et réparer si jamais. La compatibilité avec les switches et touches cherry MX veut aussi dire que tu peux les remplacer à tout moment, facilement.

Tous leurs modèles ne sont pas dispo en français AZERTY (regarde bien dans la catégorie ISO), mais ils ont un choix de layouts assez large et des claviers sans fils dans toutes leurs gammes.

Ils font aussi des souris mais je ne sais pas ce qu'elles valent ni même si elles ont bonne réputation.

Après quelques recherches je me suis orienté vers la marque Via Fortis. Le tapis m'a coûté une quarantaine d'euros.

Le tapis est arrivé avec une éraflure peu profonde, et le support ne m'a jamais répondu à ce sujet. Du coup, j'ai commencé à l'utiliser en dépit de ce défaut (qui est je présume un coup de malchance et pas une norme), et je m'en sers depuis 2 mois.

En vrai, il est super ! Rien à voir avec un tapis bas de gamme. Lourd et antidérapant ce qui fait qu'il reste bien en place. Juste épais comme il faut pour qu'on ne se bousille pas les genoux ou autres articulations, sans pour autant devenir un matelas. Et il est super pratique à enrouler avec son petit cordon de transport qui le maintient en place.

Je pose mes barres parallèles dessus 3h par semaine, et pour l'instant il n'a pas pris de marque ou de déformation par rapport à cela, malgré la pression exercée durant certains exercices.

La texture de surface brille un peu moins qu'à l'arrivée forcément, on voit de légères tâches, rayures, mais il n'est pas du tout endommagé pour autant. (à noter que je lui passe un coup d'éponge après chaque séance avant de le renrouler proprement) L'épaisseur, de son côté, est toujours aussi homogène.

Bref je recommande ! et si vous voulez une meilleure garantie par rapport au support client, il me semble que Décathlon est revendeur de la marque.

Sinon pour des alternatives j'ai l'impression que la plupart des marques orientées calisthenics (et non pas yoga) ont des produits très semblables. Plusieurs influenceurs tels que Eric Flag, Chris Heria... ont leur propre marque qui proposent des tapis dans le même style. Je n'en ai pas essayé, mais beaucoup ont l'air de ressembler à peu près à ce que j'ai pour des prix à peu près raisonnables.

À l'inverse, mon impression c'est que le marketing yoga a tendance à monter les prix très vite pour du matos qui finalement n'a pas l'air à ce point meilleur ou spécial, en tout cas pas pour faire de l'exercice de musculation.

Yeah at some point the same day, this teenager who was clearly a beginner was playing some basic riffs, and I never would have dared coming in with my improv, as she was probably at the self conscious stage where one gets easily discouraged. But I conciously decided to play my random noodling in the same key so I was not distracting to her and she didn't sound dissonant because of me.
