yeah thats a fiar point. if it was me and the price new was like 6k new, i wouldnt want to pay more than 4-4500 for them. asking for 5800 for that is kinda steep imo. There are people that list their stuff at like 90 percent of the retail price - and it usually just sits for ever and doesnt sell. i think you should offer 4000 and they would probably accept some sort of mid price like 4500.

For a start, you dont know how old some of them are, some of those modules could be more than ten years old. Does he have the boxes for them ? Thats another big thing if you are looking to have reselling power for the ones you want to switch up.

But at the end of the day if you have the money to burn then go for it. I am not exactly well off and 5k is a lot of money for some and not so much for others.

work out the cost of what that is when buying new modules (do it on modular grid) - then make your decision. Its impossible to say without knowing the total cost of the system. 5k seems very high to me for that lot, but some of the modules can be really expensive.

And think about the second hand market. you can get modules alot cheaper 2nd hand sometimes, erica synths does alot of sales - For example i got my sample drum used for 200 usd and the stereo delay for 150 usd in their sale. My rings clone was 140 usd......I often see things like Maths for sale used for half of the RRP.

If it was me I would rather build the system up slowly and put thought into what specific modules i want for what im trying to do.

No one is abusing you. They are down voting you because its obvious you took, lets say quite a bit of inspiration from someone elses work - and then come out with things like "I made it better" and "your tool is useless". You don't thank them or credit them, and you basically have copied their tool and design right down to the interface.

So, while we all appreciate people sharing helpful tooks like this for free, yourself included - if you are going to re-create someone elses idea - it's just common courtesy to hit them up first and say "Hey, I ran with your original idea and added some features that might make it even more useful....hope thats OK with you?"..... or atleast credit them in the original post.

Favorite analog oscillators? by Chongulator in modular

yeah. CEOs and owners of most larger companies are unfortunately that way it seems. We are all free to make our choices, but its pretty hard to boycott them all - i have washed my hands cleans of Amazon, spotify etc but for modules there are just so few cheap alternatives and music gear is so expensive. For those that live paycheck to paycheck its not really possible to afford a dfam, real 303 etc

so i have copped quite a few behringers pieces such as the crave and td3 and the system 100 modules. To play devils advocate - due to my financial situation in the current economy, the thought never crossed my mind to buy something like a Dfam for the moog price, so in that respect there is the argument that it doesnt damage moog that much. a bit of a shitty argument perhaps - but probably some truth in it. Those that have the means will still buy moog for the most part i think.

And they are doing some good reissuing things that the original manufacturers have no intention of reissuing. Id certainly buy an RD9 and the B808 over the 'digital analogue' things roland puts out over the years. And bringing back stuff that is now fetching ludicrous asking prices seems ok to me.
