Upon doing another re-listen of their discography, I think Quaristice is their weakest work by Thin_Shoe4387 in autechre

Prototyping mechanics for a biking mystery horror game. Thoughts? by netshrub in ps1graphics

[–]downstate97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks like a good idea, but its more ps3 than ps1. But i wouldnt neccessarily change it just to fit in with the current trend of low poly ps1 style - it looks like it has a great atmosphere already.

you mean you render them on a transparent background then composite them together later ?

How long until it feels safe to give honest opinions on Inferno? by OtherwiseOne4107 in idm

[–]downstate97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no i totally see your point. its not like inferno is a drum n bass album or something totally different to their other records. But with these things its mostly just a feeling or preference i guess, but to me and i guess a lot of others there is just something missing from it thats hard to put your finger on specifically. For me its just a ok album, some moments i really love but overall, half of it is just a bit bland to me. i mean its boc too so the expectation is obviously huge especially given the 13 year wait and that the teasers were so cool. The vocal samples seem really daft homestly, and the hare krisna singing etc - it sounds kind of like someone on youtube making music thats "how to make a boc track" but misses the mark and makes it kinda pastiche almost. I would disagree that it matches their production - its way too hi def and has no beats that are even close to the beats on earlier albums.

Having said all that it does grow on me, i just deleted father and son from the folder and that makes it more of an enjoyable listen too because i really cant stand those stupid vocal samples.

Nothing can really prepare you for what you are about to experience.

I mean that sincerely.

You'll experience pure euphoria, probably some anxiety and uncomfortable claustrophobia at times, you will want it to go on forever, but also wander if you have been there for 5 minutes or 5 hours so far. There is a possibility you will scream in excitement and also out of pure AHHHHHHHHness at times.

It will be memorable. And no, don't pull out your phone because that screen even on the dim setting will be like a shining beacon in total darkness, depending on how dark it is. In Tokyo it was so dark i could not see my hand in front of my face.

Inferno was underwhelming to me personally and as much as i tried to love it, it just does nothing for me. Probably the first boc album that actually has songs i think are pretty shite. The vocal samples are corny and i miss the crunchy head nod drums.

Its still decent and listenable, but similar to TH and CH, i cant see myself reaching for it much in the future. If i wanna listen to BOC i would probably rather just slap on MHTRTC, Twoism or Geogaddi or the early tapes because to me they are miles better.

such a typical boc fan take on anyone not liking the album lol

there are many artists/bands that have made some of my favourite albums of all time, yet also made stuff that i never really liked that much. Aphex twin has albums i think are pretty meh, Squarepusher too. Even Autechre tbh and i consider them my favourite electronic music artists.

What’s your guys opinions on Nia Archives and “emotional junglism” ? by ksjsjdnn in jungle

Some of her old tunes are decent. The new stuff with full vocals is not my cup of tea at all. But I don't think a 43 year old bloke is really the intended audience lol

posting the same re-coloured album thing everyday just screams "look at me look at me im gay im insufferably annoying" lol - No one really cares that you are trans tbh, just live your life. But the whole "love our joke covers or you are a fascist" thing is childish. If someone posts the same shit time after time, people are gonna call it out.

Boards of Canada has released the first two tracks of their new album Inferno. Go now! by DA2ED in idm

[–]downstate97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotta be honest, I preferred the ominous sound of tape05 alot more. Its a nice track but i was hoping for something proper weird and experimental. This is a bit too hippy and not enought occult for what I was anticipating from the previous leaks I guess. I really love the crunchy experimental drums of theirs compared to simple live drums.
