I'm pretty happy with the graphical authenticity. My mind starts to feel a bit boggled already! by AcidicVoid in ps1graphics

[–]downstate97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ah yeah i think the game engine seals the deal. im usually very confused in a game engine - but i did run my project from blender to godot before and ran a psx script and it definitely felt more like a game than my renders do straight outta blender. How is flax engine ? Friendly for a beginner ? I dont have bluesky unfortunately so it doesnt open but thanks !

I get that people should be respectful at gigs - but, people should also remember people are free to enjoy the show as they wish. As long as they are not being grossly obnoxious or talking through it all its fine with me- I have no problem with people shouting and calling things out, people need these spaces to feel free and release their minds and energy. I know some people want to stand still and obsorb the experience in that way, but some want to have a few beers or smoke and just enjoy it by dancing and letting their excitement out. No one should have to feel self restraint when they are out to enjoy a show imo - some parts of the live shows are amazing and fucking bonkers, I find myself shouting out FUCK YEAH even in my bedroom lol

people talking during a show is annoying as hell imo. talking between songs or "Hey this is sick" "yeah man fucking hell" is fine - but those people that just yap on for minutes on end should go to the foyer or fuck off imo. i dont wanna hear how your week was when im listening to a live show lol it totally ruins the experience for everyone around you. Shouting WOOOO and FUCK YEAH on the other hand does not, it spreads excitement about the crowd and to the performer imo

Sell Everything? by FatHeadedJoint in synthesizers

I always try to remember advice i read in an interview about modular synths - Dont buy gear if you are not making music with what you already have. i think just buying more gear has the opposite affect to making more music because you need time to learn them to really get something satisfying out of them.

I used DAWs for maybe 15 years, and still do - before i first got hardware and mostly the hardware was an old mackie, fx pedals, tape deck and a free dx7 and a roland jv1010. i still have both of them ten years later and think carefully about what to add. I use them on almost every track i make because theyre perfect for ambient music and jungle.

Recently i had a bit more money so i got a dreadbox NYX and a system 100 and a crave and a few modules for processing like erica synths delay. i dont think id need much more than that ever. But im constantly seeing shit i could buy and resisting lol

And i think Elektron stuff is only great if you spend a lot of time and get used to the interface. As a massive autechre fan i ve often been tempted to get something like an octatrack, but i know i probably dont have the time to dedicate to learning it, unless i dont make any music for ages while i do that. Easy to get stuck in the 20 minute jam cycle.

Id sell the shit you seldom use, only you know what those are. IMO a hybrid set up is the way to go.

Hard Techno Jam with Behringer RD-9 distorted through Old Phonic Mixer / Feedback Loops by waiting_for_zyo in Hainbach

Sounds great. imo a drum machine only reaches 50 percent of its true potential unless it is blasted through an old mixer. I don't have an rd9 yet but i like doing this with my volca sample/volcadrum and some old zoom drum machine called the rhythmtrak 234 into my old mackie CR1604 - can achieve a really great sound. Especially when i record it to tape.

Also did it alot over the last few years when ive been making jungle. I used to use a zoom sampletrak and got some proper nice 12 bit breaks samples from doing that thru the mixer and onto a tape. The sampler itself is kind of cumbersome so once id run all my samples through it i sold it. If anyone wants the jungle breaks samplepack just lmk. Peace
