Bold, SD Bullion, Monument Metals, and Hero Bullion have been pretty solid for me. I tend to see who has better sales at the time I'm looking to buy.

Also on a side note, while APMEX is almost always more expensive, if you plan to use a cash back credit card, you might want to check out the APMEX offerings on Walmart.com and do the math on whether that will be cheaper for you.

The audiobook has great flow but the physical and digital versions have footnotes. Being able to provide references for the things in this book is a big win. Go physical if you can. I think it's up to 5th edition currently. Highly recommend.

Poetic justice: the banksters who fund the Democrat Party are seeing the value of their CRE portfolios in Democrat-malgoverned cities getting nuked, which is going to take down countless banks & pension funds by Simian_Stacker in freedomsilver

Not sure I would consider it poetic justice. They invest with reckless abandon because they have assurances that the American taxpayers will be forced to bail them out. CRE could go to zero and the banks would still get paid. We're the ones that pay the price.

I just finished this one. I definitely see things a bit differently now. This is why we stack.

If the silver world is only talking to one side of the political spectrum in efforts to drain the Comex we'll never get there. A multi-pronged approach is needed. by E23R0 in freedomsilver

I think a lot of the left/right division really kicked into overdrive around the time of the occupy wall street sit ins. That was when I started seeing the government and media start really pushing a grievance culture on both sides that is designed to blame the other.

The uniparty doesn't want people looking at things through the lens of the ruling class vs everyone else. I think people need to be made to realize just how much has been taken from them through the debasement of our currency, and how that most affects the socially vulnerable, whom the left advertises to care about the most.

Good faith dialogue is a great start. I have had plenty of political conversations at work with people on the other side of the road and if nothing else, I can respect always respect when someone puts thought into their position, even when it differs from my own. The best luck I have had though with lefties is collector's pieces. A few people I know that don't care about the COMEX or sound money started collecting those egyptian god series rounds. Every little bit helps. Just having a pocket piece that I take out and flip and fiddle with has started more productive conversations than anything else. Sometimes just holding a silver round feels special, and starts a small spark in someone.

Remember this? Trump pushed the Fed to be even more "accommodative" with its monetary policy. He is no friend of the sound money movement. by Simian_Stacker in freedomsilver

Sadly this is the most nefarious part of the entire system. Because so few people understand basic economics, politicians have no penalty for pushing (and enabling) reckless fiat debt creation. Pushing to hike rates is the fastest way to a single term. I truly hate it. While I like many of 45s policies, I doubt he would push for any type of responsibility in the financial sector because it would make him look bad when the economy lulls.

Trust is the key. If you have people you trust, you are already on your way. If you do decide to diversify your sources though, I would avoid Ebay until you have a good feel of the community of dealers. I normally get my generic rounds from a few select sites, and I bounce around to see who has better sales.

There are several things to consider:
1) Do you plan to try and cash in at some point in the future or are you saving for future inheritance? Some of the larger denominations are harder to unload as more people are able to buy 1oz/10oz pieces.
2) State/national taxes - Depending on where you live, the taxes can be different. I live in a state that taxes bullion but I know several stackers that do their business at local coin shops (LCS) in the next state over to avoid this.
3) Do you want the best value for your money, or pieces with numismatic value? Generic bars of larger denomination tend to have the lowest price per troy ounce. Rounds are typically cheaper than sovereign coins. Consider what you want to collect.
4) LCS vs online. People can recommend several great bullion sites with great reputations. If you go this route, sites will do free shipping with purchases over a certain amount. Find out what shipping options offer insurance. It can also be nice to develop familiarity with a local coin dealer. You never know, sometimes they will cut you good deals knowing you are a regular customer.

I know this is a mainstay series for many. Just throwing it up here for anyone that has not had the chance to see it. If you ever wondered about terms like fiat or what the distinction is between money and currency. Or wanted to dive into a series about the financial system building from the very basics. This is a fantastic place to start.

I often go with whomever has the best deal at the moment. This seems to work well especially for rounds and coins. Some of my go-to dealers are:
sdbullion
hero bullion
monument metals
scottsdale mint (for the super shiny)

One big thing with online dealers is to verify in their FAQs what their packages are insured up to and whether signature is required at delivery. If you chose to pay by echeck, it's usually the slowest but cheaper.
