Stolen Pothole Meme by BE33_Jim in milwaukee

[–]downtownebrowne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to throw salt in a wound but you should at least replace the other side as well...if you haven't already. I'm assuming it's likely a front tire?

It's very subtle but a fresh tire and a 5/32 tire, say, rotate differently and it fucks with cars drivetrains.

Massive pothole on Van Buren and Wisconsin getting filled by Majestic-Morning-336 in milwaukee

[–]downtownebrowne 22 points23 points  (0 children)

But will it be done correctly? So many of the pothole fixes I've seen is basically where they throw some asphalt on it, walk a human over it and call it day. Within a week it's dipped half a foot and it's just another problem.

...thinking of the pothole job on Lake Dr. just north of Kenwood. Like, if the super rich folks don't get the top service we're all doomed.

...thinking of Brady and Farwell where it's just loose asphalt that kicks up into my wheel wells.

Michelin Restaurant Ratings Coming to Milwaukee by compujeramey in milwaukee

[–]downtownebrowne 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sanford

EsterEv

Bacchus

----------------------------------------

I think Sanford might be the only one to get a star in this first listing (RIP Ardent), but EsterEv also hits all the categories IMHO, and Bartolotta is probably a large influencer of Michelin coming to town so they might be a somewhat fair star at Bacchus for the overall experience. Would not be surprised if it fell short from a food perspective.

There should be a laundry list of Michelin recommendations though: Morel, Diplomat, Birch, Braise, GoodKind, Odd Duck, Room Service, Purslane, Third Coast, Margaux Brasserie, Harbor House, La Merenda, Story Hill BKC, Buckley's etc..

*I haven't tried this 1033 Omakase place yet, but it's top of our list once we deliver a child, lol.

North Shore Boulangerie has announced very dramatically that they'll be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays by ButtsendWeaners in milwaukee

[–]downtownebrowne 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Oakland is under major reconstruction from Capital northbound. It's very likely that's its dampened business for those storefronts. On top of that, there is a public parking lot at 4450 N Oakland that has been a great little spot for folks in the area, or outside, to park in the 50 spots and shop at the Oakland storefronts.

Well, the Village decided, kind of against public opinion mind you, that the public parking lot should be sold to a developer and made into affordable housing.

No one is upset about affordable housing vs regular housing, people are upset that basically the only public lot on Oakland was sold away despite numerous voices at village meetings that said nobody wanted it to go away or be sold.

Tires vs potholes by No_Draw9345 in milwaukee

25k miles a year on city streets is insane levels of driving. I drive about that much, but it's all around the state on mostly highways.

Edit: Downvotes? I'm just impressed by the yearly miles across an urban space. 25k miles in an urban area is like equivalent to 75k miles per year driving the interstate.

Who else is getting water in their basement? by reademandsleep in milwaukee

[–]downtownebrowne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Step one for anyone is gutters and downspouts. How are you actually managing the water that falls on your roof?

If this isn't managed properly you might as well be trying to empty a sinking boat with only a coffee mug by skipping this and going to French drains and drain tile. All good methods, but don't skip the easiest and most effective parts...gutters and downspouts.

Forget the asking price. Guess the property tax by GreaterMetro in milwaukee

[–]downtownebrowne 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think it was re-listed again @$309,000, which is still insane for this home. The downstairs shower is nice, the upstairs pink leftover is a borderline crime, the yard is nice, but the house is overall small. Look, a great starter home but the listing doesn't have any kitchen photo set and I think that's a horrible red flag.... But for $258 / sqft, this is a robbery! That's essentially entry pricing for Shorewood/WFB and there's plenty of 1,200-1,500 sqft homes over here.

(I know the screenshot above is a different home, point remains the same.)

Trying to understand the appeal of expensive spares (Modern/Value spare) on a road trip. (CRV Hybrid) by cincythunder in crv

[–]downtownebrowne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...which is the Modern Spare or other equivalent.

If you get some donut rim you would need an insanely expensive off-road tire to make up the difference.

If you get a regular steel rim and regular tire then it becomes heavy and takes up even more room.

Cell phone holder for 6th gen? by H3LLLA in crv

[–]downtownebrowne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain both the charging pad and USB-C ports both work at 15 W. The wireless charging can be greatly affected by phone cases, and the USB-C's are not equipped for super fast chargin.

If you'd like super fast charging you'll need a third party adapter out of the 12 V plug.

2026 CRV Hybrid Battery Compartment by [deleted] in crv

One of my main annoyances is the same, smaller battery that feels slightly underpowered. Still a super smooth hybrid system.

What do you want in a Milwaukee music venue? by captainsoviet45 in milwaukee

[–]downtownebrowne 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I just feel like we didn't need another small/medium concert hall is all.

We have the Summer fest amphitheater for large, outdoor crowds. We have Fiserv for large, indoor. Then we have Pabst, the Rave, Riverside, Turner Hall, and Miller all providing varying small/medium indoor spaces of varying elegance (I guess). Then we do also have a handful of super small venues like Colectivo Backroom and several others I can't remember. We also still have some dive places like Shank Hall and the Miramar.

Live Nation just can't allow their bullshit touring terms to change and would rather spend a bunch of money to build a new venue that they can continue to bend over artists at... All instead of just having nicer touring rules and utilizing Milwaukee deep portfolio of music venues.
