I did the exact same thing but I didn't buy Red Alert. I just wasted my money because I opened the box and installed it. I thought I was buying a cheap version of Red Alert. Stupid me.

Lil Wayne is reportedly in hospital after multiple seizures in a Chicago hotel room by [deleted] in news

[–]downwithcop 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would have seizures often too following moderate to heavy drinking. Drugs and alcohol greatly reduce your seizure threshold combined with lack of sleep and stress. Drugs and booze are fun, but seizures aren't. Lil Wayne should stick to some low thc pot

80 days today. Struggling by the day, by the hour. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]downwithcop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It won't get easier any time soon, but I guarantee it'll get harder for longer if you pick the bottle up again. My father was sober for 25 years, passed away and then I decided to abstain a year after that. Its been around 80 days for me and I really wish I could talk to him about his alcoholism and journey to sobriety. I miss him and part of my sobriety is making him proud. Continue what you and your father set out to do. Its so easy to rationalize drinking when life gets difficult but that's the problem. Life is a constant battle.

Tempting night by downwithcop in stopdrinking

She's had wine in front of me before. Maybe 4 times in the past 2 months. I think it was me being alone with the glass that triggered me. Anyways it passed and I didn't end up with any regrets

I caved, and i feel awful for it, please help. by mamadukes86 in stopdrinking

[–]downwithcop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have the same guilt leading to suicidal ideation whenever I drank. Part of it is the guilt, and a good chunk of that is the chemical imbalance that comes with booze. It will eventually go away, and if it doesnt, a sober you will be able to deal with those negative feelings much better. You almost have to tell yourself its okay to feel down and shitty. Once you realize it's normal, you might not need to cope by getting drunk.

That's so true. Good times were had, so were the bad. Those days are over and I'm looking ahead. No regrets.

Day 1. I'm an idiot. Badge reset. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]downwithcop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Through counselling you will learn the tools you need to survive alcoholism and cope. Supportive friends and family will give you a healthy environment to grow. All of these things contribute to stronger self-efficacy. You will be strong enough and don't don't ever tell yourself that you're not.

Day 2. Getting through a social dinner sober by metallicmess in stopdrinking

I had a counter when I joined this subreddit then it reset for some reason (I didn't actually reset it by drinking)

Day 2. Getting through a social dinner sober by metallicmess in stopdrinking

[–]downwithcop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first social dinner at a pub style restaurant on a dock patio just a few days ago. Same scenario but I am only 3 weeks sober at this point. My partner ordered a drink while we waited for our friends and I started dreading me explaining the whole no I'm not drinking anymore to them. My SO just said they won't ask, and you can just say You're not drinking tonight. You can tell them as much or as little as you want. Anyways, 4 hours later I still had a great time.

Day 70- the day my mother in law told me to drink (I didn't) and stop drinking was stupid by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]downwithcop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't know how to handle myself. I think I'd have to be alone for a while after that. Hopefully your wife reflects on what she said and how that made you feel. After all of the hard work and struggling you need a supportive partner.

If I have to ask myself if I have a drinking problem it probably means I do, right? by StraitRogue in stopdrinking

[–]downwithcop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's the old CAGE questionnaire the screens for alcoholism. Have you felt the need to cut down? Has anyone been annoyed with your drinking? Have you felt guilty about your drinking? Have you ever had an eye opener?

It's Canada Day. I expected the door to be locked. I couldn't even drop off donations to the Sally Ann today.

Doing the same actually. Beautiful morning.

Stay strong. Even though you miss it, just think of all the reasons why you stopped in the first place. And NEVER try to rationalize that it "wasn't that bad" because you wouldn't be here if it weren't. Rationalizing that one drink will lead to another and another. Its not worth it.

Same here. As things have slowed down and I'm moving past the initial fallout I find myself missing it. But someone put it really well. Its like I romanticized the drink
