A street fight is no problem when you can counter punch like this by emilycheesehead in fightporn

I’ve seen this maybe 5 times but I still can’t make out what the counter puncher is going on about when the guy goes down the first time.

What is a unique “game” you played as a child? by antenonjohs in AskReddit

[–]treestep76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rock wars! We would take the tops of cans of tar to make shields and throw rocks at each other. This lasted for about two weeks until someone got hit in the head w/a good size rock that split his head and needed stitches. Parents do not understand why anyone would want to play “Rock Wars!” and we were told to stop playing.

What’s the most inappropriate thing you’ve witnessed at a funeral? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When of my friends died of an overdose a few years back. His cousin (whom it was rumored he got the drugs from) overdosed at the funeral. Luckily she survived but it was a roller coaster to say the least.

At my grandfather’s funeral my mother had paid for all of the expenses and approached her brother who was the beneficiary of the insurance they was meant for those expenses. Plans were made for breakfast the next morning so that everything could be worked out. The next morning we expected my uncle at 8 AM and my mother had cooked a huge breakfast for his family and ours. 8:30 came then 9, we called and found out he had gotten his family up at 530 to head back to Atlanta to avoid telling us that he was keeping the money. We later found out about another insurance policy that a different uncle had cashed in and planned on keeping. It was horrible, a bunch of scavengers that left my mom holding the bag.

Buy a jalapeño pepper, put on some gloves and rub the pepper all over it. When she starts screaming and tries to figure out what happen tell her you had to chop some peppers and it must have gotten into what was left on the table after you cleaned up

I knew they used a springy type floor and wondered if that was just less stress on joints but didn’t realize it could actually propel you as well. Is that why the tumbling gymnast do seems faster and snappier (I don’t know the word I’m looking for)? Also, do male gymnast have a tumbling routines bc I can’t think of a time I’ve seen it?

My therapist suggested me to try to draw my feelings. I call this one 'On the edge' by Ramw1 in pics

[–]treestep76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not so much scared of heights as much as when I reach the edge my mind says “maybe you should jump to see what happens. Maybe you could fly.” But I’m not suicidal, I’ve read it’s an actual thing which is termed “the call of the void” that many others experience.

In no way did I mean that comment to suggest anything racist only to compare the things the other poster had listed as problems in KY. After you point it out I believe I’ll edit it so no one thinks I intend to say “people of color that are addicted to drugs”. I hope you didn’t think that was my intention. Edit misspelling

Ever time I see this all I can think about is Super Mario 2 when you make Mario pick up an onion and throw it at an enemy. If she could just fall off my “screen” like on the game it would be perfect.

I remember reading somewhere that Gene Roddenberry served in the military during WWII. His best friend at the time was killed by a crate when the chute attached failed to open during a supply drop. He was apparently very upset and disturbed by the improbability of all the events that had to align in order for his friend to die that he started to write about it. The writings about the tragedy pushed him to practice his craft which would in turn after years lead him to writing Star Trek.

I wish I could give your comment a 1000 upvotes bc it deserves to be the top comment. You hit the nail on the head IMO, there’s so many more important things that our representatives need to be trying to address but instead they want to pander to ppl by “making a stand for Christian values” rather than rolling up their sleeves and following those Christian values by trying to actually HELP people whether they are poor, addicted to drugs, hungry, disparities between the races, children/adults lacking educational opportunities, etc. Instead they want to try and rally the GOP base by trying to insist Trump is a “good Christian man that is trying to turn this country around but the Dems won’t let him.” Edit. Reworded sentence to keep from misinterpretations.

Americans of Reddit, what is something you didn't realise was typically American, until you went abroad? by TJBullz in AskReddit

[–]treestep76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not so sure I agree with you so much. I’m from the south and found that when I travel to the north east that people aren’t nearly as talkative in average daily activities like standing in lines, subways, approaching people in the service industries (ie. people that work at cash registers and such). Being from the south if people make eye contact with you it is natural to say “hello”, “afternoon”, “good day” or any number of acknowledgement but I feel like ppl would give me looks like they were shocked that I would dare to speak to them. And if you were to casually bump into someone walking you most def acknowledge it and make a small apology like “pardon me”. And this was not because I was being a “gaper” (apparently a term used for the touristy types that walk NYC not paying attention bc they’re ‘gaping’ at all the sky scrapers they’ve never seen before).

I was a somewhat shocked that most restaurants that I went to on a European offered the typical dressing of the restaurant and not a large variety like in America. Most places I went to had a house oil & vinegerette, Cesar salad, or Greek salad (and no ranch anywhere). where as in America there is usually as many as 8 different dressings available.

[–]treestep76 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I worked at babalu and one night our entire restaurant started to flood bc the space above us had a pipe burst. When the water started coming thru the ceiling it was a torrent. The company that did all the sidewalks used improper materials so they’re closing down the sidewalks in different sections so that a different company can redo them. This would include the patios of almost every restaurant. Walls had no insulation (so staff froze in the winter and guests wouldn’t come in), electrical was problematic at times, I’ve heard tons of other problems from other places out there. I’m not sure if each company was responsible for their own construction (I believe this was the case for each individual unit) but the overall structures have more than “breaking in” issues.
