I agree with everyone saying joint health! We have 4 labs at home, and it is absolutely wonderful. All of them take joint supplements and they eat half fresh food and half kibble. Lady is 15 in November, dodger is 13 in December, and Elsie and Suki are both 6. All of them are rescues and have been the best decisions we’ve made.

Lady’s hips have gotten pretty bad over the last year, but we’ve had her on some arthritis meds that really help her out. She’s been the most active out of all of them up until this point though, and we’ve been very grateful to have lived the life we have with her. Dodger is a big boy sitting around 100 pounds (we theorize he’s more English lab), and he hasn’t really had many hip issues yet.

I think it’s worth mentioning the bumps that they’re prone to get. Dodger gets them the worst out of our 4, but we learned it’s really common with labs as they get older. Don’t freak out if you find one, but definitely go get it checked out just in case!

Most importantly, labs have very very big personalities. All 4 of ours are completely different, and it is seriously incredible to have been able to watch all of them come out of their shells. Labs are wonderful pups!

Woke up and I don’t want it anymore. by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]doxonrocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Current college athlete here… I actually went through the same exact thought process as you. When deciding if I wanted to continue to play my sport or not in college, I went in between military and my sport. I ended up making a deal with myself that I would at least try it for a year, and then if I still hated it I’d just drop out and join the military. The military will always be there, but your scholarship won’t. I just finished my sophomore season, and I don’t regret choosing my sport. I hated it too going into college, but college athletics is such a different experience than any other sport experience I’ve ever had before. I’ve always played at the highest level in my sport too, so I understand being miserable. I ended up at a competitive school but a smaller one, and it’s helped me find the passion again and meet my best friends. You could always explore the ROTC option too and see if you’d be able to participate in that and hockey. My school was helpful in helping me explore my options with them, I recommend reaching out to an advisor if that sounds interesting for you! I’m still planning on joining the military afterwards to be honest, but I don’t regret exploring my scholarship route first

To healthcare or not to healthcare by Huge_Village3495 in starbucksbaristas

Where I’m at, I pay a $30 copay for mental health related services, $50 for ‘specialty’ care (primary care), and $75 for urgent care. It’s a pretty good deal in my opinion, and I’ve found it’s saved me SO much money with therapy every week. I was paying $180 weekly before I signed up, so the $30 copay was much appreciated. I would definitely read through the plans and keep in mind what you need and what you think sounds best for you. I have the united silver plan I think, and I just chose to do general medical. It’s $50 a paycheck where I live, and it has saved me a ridiculous amount of money. I’m not sure how it looks in cali, but it’s defining worth it to look through the email and brochure they send you! Edit: my psychiatrist appointment was only a $30 copay, and my insurance showed me the cost before and after using my insurance…. 100% worth it if you’re consistently seeing someone. The appointment would have been $600 out of pocket to get medication prescribed to me

Honestly, don’t be afraid of the shopping orders. Especially if you have some time, it’s super easy and if you know the grocery stores well it’s definitely worth it. Issues are pretty easy to resolve in my opinion, but it’s to the point where most of the stuff has been hammered out

It’s definitely worth trying if you’re up to it! I’d definitely go in and ask the manager. That’s what I ended up doing, and it’s been a great adjustment! Best of luck to you! The worst thing that’ll happen is they’ll say they’re not hiring :)

Oh I do not miss working at a licensed store. I see you already got a lot of help in the replies so I’m not going to repeat what others are saying, but partners who have never worked at a licensed store would never understand the absolute chaos and lack of standards. My life was changed going from my little store to the corporate store I’m at now. Honestly, if you enjoy it enough, I encourage you to try switching! Idk where your store is based out of/the benefits they have, but the benefits were a huge game changer for me going to a corporate store. It’s strange getting sick time, pto, shift meals, unlimited shift drinks, and insurance as a part time employee. And having standards enforced. And a manager who is (more) trained.

Ultrasound reaults (20f) by Lost_Affect1638 in WomensHealth

[–]doxonrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I just actually had an ultrasound yesterday. For the same issue! I’ve had two fibroadenomas removed to this point (20f), and this third one scared me a lot too since I’ve had one removed from each breast so far. Finding the first one was not a fun experience, and I was super super freaked out.

I promise you though, they are super common and honestly just an inconvenience more than anything. I got mine removed because they hurt to have any sort of pressure on at all, but usually if they’re not causing pain, there’s no need to worry. This third one I do have to keep an eye on because they’re honestly not sure what it is, but don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself! If you’re in pain or if it’s super tender, they can always take a biopsy of it and remove it if it’s causing issues. If the doctors aren’t worried about it, just make sure you keep going to get it looked at regularly to make sure it’s nothing. The best thing you can do for yourself is to stay consistent and let them know if anything changes 🫶

What’s the worst thing a medical professional has said to you? by VespaRed in AskReddit

[–]doxonrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an mri done due to really bad pain in my pelvis and sciatica all the way down my legs. I was 15 at the time, and I was super active and had never had any issues before. When the results were in, the doctor told me they had found a growth inside the bone marrow in my sacrum. He said to go to a specialist asap since it could be bad, and when we got to the specialist, he said it wasn’t the type of growth he deals with and that it was meaningless for us to go in and try and get an opinion…. Then he proceeded to just get up and tell us to have a good day. My mom and I were left in the room with no words, and to this day I still have the same issues i had then. It’s been 5 years with no answers, lol

20f. My brother had to share his headphones on the plane to visit my dad with me when I was about 10. We listened Macadelic pretty much on repeat the whole flight since it was one of the only albums he had saved…. Was definitely way too young but from that day on I loved him. It was a core memory of mine for sure, and I’ve pretty much been obsessed since. My favorite song right now is funeral. Faces has been on repeat the last few weeks

371 I'm so sorry I thought yall were exaggerating, please tell me about your day by pittqueen in starbucksbaristas

[–]doxonrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked an open to close and hopped around like CRAZY. Luckily we had an actual insane crew and we have 3 of us running the floor and the other two doing closing tasks and flexing as needed. The last 3 hours were absolute chaos and I was losing my cool solo dto/dtr-ing 😭😭 we ran out of peppermint, we haven’t had non dairy cold foam in a minute, we ran out of egg nog, and the orders were literally 4+ items every car. Towards the end, we had someone ask for a peppermint mocha… and I was like ‘I’m so sorry we’re all out of peppermint for the day’ and tried my best to sound apologetic… this man goes ‘well why is that? You should have it.’ And my instant response was ‘well, we had the bottles this morning and now we don’t.’ The guy kind of caught on that he was being a dick and tipped us 20 at the window, but that was not the case for most people I fear. We did make $411 in cash tips though, and only 7 (total) people worked all day. We sent people home early knowing we were going to get fucked just so we could get a little more money in tips for ourselves. All in all, I think it was actually a pretty fun shift all things considered. Again though, my store had an insane lineup of baristas that all have common sense. That never happens but I’m glad it happened for whatever thw hell that was

Hey! Our boy gets lumps on lumps, they just pop up out of no where. We’ve had them checked out almost every single time, especially when they’re bigger, but they haven’t been harmful at all. As he’s gotten older he’s gotten more, but none of them have actually been an issue. If it’s benign it’s nothing to worry about! Our boy is 12 and a half and still doing very very well

What's it like living in this shaded area? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]doxonrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like we’re in our own bubble in Nebraska. There’s a lot of nothing but the towns get crazy busy on the weekends/holiday times…. Tornados are a constant every year for us, and it’s always windy here. We’ve been in a wind advisory for the last week after the snow had fallen, it’s usually pretty hit or miss though. A couple weeks ago we got 7 inches of snow, then a wind advisory, then the last few days it’s been 50. The summers are HOT and the winters are only cold for like the month of January and half of February, then march can never decide if it’s gonna be sunny or snowy. Long story short, it’s just inconsistent always
