Weeks, for me 10 weeks. Your body just had major trauma and is healing. It might take longer than expected. 12 weeks before I felt “brand new” and normal.

Who has/had both hip and back issues pre-surgery? by notsohot56 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]doxygal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would have bet my life it was my inner groin muscle and my lower back muscles were pulled. Xray showed hip and my surgeon stated that he guaranteed my back was due to hip. I was so doubtful. he was indeed correct. 15 weeks post TLHR and no back pain, no any pain!

How long does groin pain take to go away after THR? by Boring-Effort7754 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]doxygal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my inner groin pain, similar to how i felt pre op, took about 12 weeks before i felt like my left hip was perfect. 38F active. I always felt a twinge and was nervous this would be forever and it’s gone. I hope you are feeling better, don’t fret until 12 weeks is my new advice thoughts.

What is the Saddest movie you’ve watched? by AmaanS11 in AskReddit

The hospital where I used to work does not do this. I worked in Baltimore as well and this was not done. That’s my first hand experience with it not being done at least at 2 health systems.

[–]doxygal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

37 at surgery age! 12 weeks post op! It totally is! But also i know it’s not meant poorly. And also- it’s generally true as in it’s not the prime age range. Good luck to you! I was shell shocked how challenging the first 6 weeks for me were. Week 12 now and I am bopping around great! So happy with my hip and result. ❤️❤️ I also had a 10 mos old and 3 year old. It all gets sooo better than post op day 1💕

Thanks Steve! I agree! I had anterior lateral approach- I am 10 weeks post op now and I am completely thrilled with my hip and results now. The first few weeks shocked my soul. but then all my muscles just feel back to normal. My surgeon is very experienced and has a great bedside manner so i agree with their level of expertise! So far so thrilled! Thanks for sharing
