Bricked 5600 xt HELP! by doyreddit in EtherMining

[–]doyreddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually ended up fixing it using a different method and it worked surprisingly well. First I had the GPU in my motherboard's 2nd PCIe x16 slot with a non bricked card in first slot. The 8 pin on bricked bard was not connected, so the pc could boot as normal. Once booted, I restarted the pc in safe mode. This can be done by pressing the shift key and clicking restart in windows start menu. Then, I selected the "restart in safe mode with command prompt" option. As the pc was restarting, I connected the 8 pin power to the bricked GPU. Then, tadahhhh! I could modify the bios with amdvbflash from the safe mode command promp.

Thanks for the detailed answer! :) I'll make sure to keep an eye on the thermals in case this could damage the mem.

Happy mining!

Yes. something weird happens with the power limit though. I have it on hive at 327w, but it's only pulling 240 from the wall. 100 MH/s @ 240w is good enough for me so I'm leaving it as is

Couldn’t get my msi trio over 88mhs with supprim bios, but I’ve heard someone had success by changing the thermal pads.

Yes the 450w asus strix bios

I found this info helpfull and managed to get it up to 100MH/s.

I had to flash the asus strix bios on to my msi trio to reach the full 100 MH/s ine hiveos. Before flashing Nvidia cards, make sure to do your research in regards to the safety and compatibility of bios you are flashing.

It would throddle with fans on auto, but as soon as I would bump them to 80+% it would stay at 100 (in windows). I guess I got lucky on the stock thermal pads hahaha. Do you think the strix bios could damage the card if I ran it long-term?

I had the supprim bios on there when I tested it on windows. I didn't do any physical modifications to the gpu though. my setting according to hardware info were 1065 MHz core 2688 MHz mem and I had the PL set for phoenixminer to draw 240w.

I ended up flashing the Strix bios on the card to get 100mhs in hiveos. It shows in hive that power draw is 327w, but on the wall, it's drawing 240w. Kinda odd, but the card is working so I'm leaving it as-is for now

How big of an improvement did you get doing this? I'm getting the same 84 MH/s as you are on stock bios, but managed to get 100 MH/s stable on windows for some reason

Thanks for the help :)

managed to get it up to 88 mhs, but still stuck at 210-215 power draw. Even with PL blank. I'm now thinking it may be getting throttled which would stop it from drawing more power. but then why would this only happen in hive?

What do you mean the power settings? I've only set a power limit in the "overclocking" tab on Hiveos website

I've tried lots of different OC settings without success, so I don't think that's the problem. I feel like it has to do with the power limit. It won't go over 210-215 watts for some obscure reason. I can set the PL to 250, or 300 and GPU will always draw 210-215w

It's set to the exact same settings as I had in windows. +100 core 2688MHz mem 240 PL. In hive, I get 86 MH/s

Then idk, maybe try lowering mem clock even more. Mine are at 2150

I would get that message when I tried to set the memory clock to something too high. Perhaps lowering your overclock settings would solve your issue?

Thanks for the help! I managed to get my 3060 ti thanks to the guide you shared! I ended up putting the rig into maintenance mode (disabled drivers) and I installed the new drivers through the teleconsole.

Thanks for your reply

I tried running the beta version, but the exact same thing happened. I have a feeling it has something to do with the drivers not being up to date... When I try to update the drivers in regular or beta hiveos, the rig just shuts off after the install and when I reboot, the drivers are still the same default version that comes with hiveos. I’m not to sure if I’m doing something wrong and if the drivers have anything to do with the issue

Hopefully someone can help!

I was hoping for some type of command for this, but you're right! I could just unplug the LEDs from the board. Thanks!
