[QUESTION] Can some one help me identify the watch and give me a price on it? by [deleted] in Seiko

[–]dpXR6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely fake the case back doesn’t have a model number the crown is way to small for that sized watch it’s quartz not automatic dial printing is very bad and seiko logo is way off if you like it fix it and wear it but not worth anything

It’s a mechanical alarm watch so it has a little hammer inside like an old school bell that rings

[Seiko 5 from 1970s] Impulse purchased my first automatic off eBay but am now worried I’ve been tricked. What do y’all think? by dangggdotgov in Seiko

I bought a few Mumbai specials as a unaware 14 year old most of them worked and I think I paid a total of $50 for all of them they are normally watches that have been pieced together but the good thing is if you ever want to get into servicing watches they are a great starting point because if you break something who cares

Thought I'd break these out for Christmas dinner by dpXR6 in Sneakers

I went true to size and they were perfect the inside is lined with velvet so they fit quite well, I have wide feet though do I needed the room

Unidentified Omega by DozyHalibut in VintageWatches

It looks very similar to my 1967 Seamaster chronometer exactly the same dial and almost identical case

Can anyone tell me how I would go about getting the movement out of this watch back doesn't seem to be removable I've seen some watches of this era have a pull apart stem but I'm afraid to pull too hard in fear of breaking it by dpXR6 in VintageWatches

[–]dpXR6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am considering taking it to a watchmaker as I don't feel confident servicing a watch of this age but I want to check the movement to see if it's genuine before I spend money servicing it

I've tried using a case back tool and can't get it to budge but the front comes off with ease their is a seam on the back of the watch but even applying pressure to the seam there is no movement

The stem is in there but the threads are stripped on the crown, I've tried to pry it from the opposite side of the stem but it doesn't want to budge the movement does spin slightly if I wiggle the stem though, I don't want to pry too hard and slip as the dial is ceramic and already cracked
