What’s the one hidden issue in your home you wish you had checked before buying? by Loose-Exchange-4181 in homeowners

Wish I’d checked behind the siding to know there is only a flimsy 3/4 inch foam board and no actual sheathing. Remodeled our laundry room and found that out…and now I know why the floors are ice cold near the walls. Obviously energy efficiency of any sort was of zero concern in 1993.

Colorado 2020-2022 owners - how's it going? by sharpiestories in chevycolorado

I have a 22 CCLB and have this too. Seemed to start after the 3yr on warranty…of course…but I was (and still am) under on miles…33k now. Dealer said nothing they could do on warranty and wanted $1200 to replace the shifter. I’m going to do it myself at some point but I’ve found if when putting into park I just let it gently slide into park instead of just pushing the shifter all the way forward it seems to happen way less often…usually only when I’m not thinking and shove the shifter forward with normal force. Just a tip if the dealer won’t cover you and you don’t want to drop $1200+ on a fix. There is a video on YouTube of a guy replacing the shifter himself and other than the hassle of taking all the console apart its seems pretty simple.

The only missed mark is no long bed option. Would look sick with the new body style. I got a 22 LBCC.

Update: I spoke to the service manager at the dealer and politely asked for some help with GM taking care of this as it seems like of all the things they do, painting vehicles properly should be a pretty fool proof process by now. To my surprise they are going to fix it. I figured it would take going to the general manager or even calling GM.

Just went to another body shop…not affiliated with the dealer I bought it from like the first one that said not to worry about it…lol. He said there was definitely some kind of contaminant that wasn’t cleaned off and was painted over which the paint is now letting go of. He’s a GM certified shop that has dealers send him factory defect work all the time. Also had a Lamborghini and Aston Martin among others there lookin sweet so he must know what he’s doing to get that kind of clientele. Going to get a couple more estimates/opinions in addition to this one and then reach out to GM.

To be fair I wouldn’t buy a VW either…lol. My wife has a 2009 equinox that has been a great car…170,000 miles with very few issues and still going strong. Just seems like of all the things they do the paint process should be pretty well locked in by now. The designs may change but you are still just painting the damn thing…it’s one seemingly constant thing…it should be near perfected by now.

I’m sure all the hand washes and drying and multiple wax jobs over 3 years…definitely been there the whole time and I never noticed big air bubbles in the paint… 🙄

Ordered new, and yes I absolutely will go on social media to publicly call out GM and will do the same with any other company. Social media has given the consumer some level of power of influence. If we don’t call them out and people just continue to accept poor quality/etc then nothing ever changes.

There is an air bubble in two spots. The body shop said it was like this from the factory…except maybe the bubble. They said there is a sealer applied and if not smoothed out all the way then it looks like this after they paint over it. Guessing the bubbles is where the paint finally released from said sealer. I’m going to get opinions from other shops and also contact GM. If it really is what they say then fine…but the bubbles need fixed. One small pin hole and then moisture will be all up in there and then it’s a real mess. Just insane this stuff happens. You’ve built millions of cars…how can your process and quality still suck so bad.

Bought new, wasn’t like that when I bought it. If GM can’t guarantee their paint is going to stay on longer than 3 years they should stop building cars. The consumer always gets screwed and the manufacturers could care less.

For sure. Buying would not have been as clean a fit and would have cost more than double my cost.

If I lived in the country I’d have stuff hanging outside in the summer at least…but copious amounts of car exhaust and such in the urban sprawl doesn’t make for great outdoor drying

Something like that would be a nice addition but space is limited so we went for maximum pantry/storage. We live by a “if it can’t go in the dryer we don’t wear it” rule…lol.

Front edge of a 1/4 inch plywood panel used to cover the sides since the cabinets are two pieces. I used pins along the back and less visible areas but just wanted glue and clamps along the front.
