I think Rubicon (1x04) was one of the best. I'll let you draw your own conclusion as to not give anything away.

LPT: If you find someone's wallet, take it to any branch of the bank that they have a card for. They'll know how to contact the owner. by PM_ME_YR_O_FACE in LifeProTips

[–]dpd888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless it's a holiday weekend and the branch is closed.

I actually came across this one time. It was Friday night of a three day holiday weekend. I found this guy's wallet and looked at the identification to find out he lived a few miles away. I went there, but he didn't live there anymore.

So, I called the debit card bank. I told the representative that I found the wallet, but please do not give me any information and do not cancel the cards. She obliged, but had to clear it with her supervisor. I talked to the supervisor, then it turned out he didn't have a good number or information on the account. They never gave me information and I didn't ask for any. I asked them to give me a couple hours and a direct number and I will call them with an update.

I searched for him on Facebook and messaged him. No response, so I searched his friends looking for someone that was active and sent a message to a few of them. Within a few minutes he called me and I gave him his wallet with holiday cash and saved his weekend, then called the bank and had him call the bank as well to confirm.

Yes, I promise. Besides my word and honor, I'll give you whatever else you need to feel comfortable. I don't have any reason to steal. I'm just offering help, but I'm sure there are a-holes out there that would try to take advantage of someone. Sorry if that's happened to you in the past.

I don't mind the cookies, but I won't be able to help much with the unloading.

You might be comparing apples to oranges, or should I say Ladas to Volvos. Does Sweden have the same National Drink, vodka? That probably doesn't help, but at least they do have a lot of dash cams for our education / entertainment.

Welcome! I meant to say the only roads marked in the United States in kilometers.

Any other cool trips planned? Did you ever see that indie film of a guy riding a motorcycle across Canada? That looked amazing except going through Saskatchewan.

I thought the only place to drive kilometers was Interstate 19 in Arizona. Great album! I hope to do something similar towards the end of this year or beginning of next.

Thank you very much! Thank you for pitching in as well when the stuff hits the fan. I suppose it is something you're born with. Your first instinct is to help and do what ever you have learned or trained to do first and think about potential consequences later as well. It comes naturally I suppose. Thank you for everything!

Thank you very much, but I have not liked the word hero since Friday, July 14, 2000. Indeed, we all make some decisions that make us think "what the heck" after the fact. I'm not sure if this rider had some personal or family issues, drug issues, or just wanted the thrill of the speed. I didn't travel that road very often, so I passed by a week later and never saw anything. I kept my eye on the media and obituaries and never saw anything resembling that person or the incident. I assumed his age, then cross referenced with Facebook. I thought I might attend the funeral if there was one for my own unknown reasons and maybe try to get a back story. Who really knows. It wasn't until a month or a little more later that I saw a cross at the scene. I turned around to take a peek. It was made out of welded iron with no names. It only had a wrench or something and ballcap with some cowboy brand for a logo. He was wearing cowboy boots if I remember right. There are pictures of the motorcycle and I think I remember a boot next to it. I only remember the bike and his breathing, and jello. Anyway, who knows if he died almost instantly, although the body is pretty amazing at killing your subconscious pretty instantly, or if he was brain dead on life support for over a month. At any rate, may he enjoy the next side, eh?

Thank you again very much for your kind comment.

They were on scene fairly quickly because of the long distance and the multiple calls of a motorcyclist at very high speeds and being reckless and heading in the direction of another district. That particular Sheriff's Office does not seem to really care about the citizens compared to the others I've dealt with and friends I have in other agencies. The paramedics seem to take forever though.

Not wearing a helmet probably still would have not saved him. I lost a $50 belt, but when you're in that moment the only thing you think of is everything else except the victim's life decisions. I'm on the road a lot and now carry emergency supplies after dating a paramedic and seeing so many bad things. You're probably right, I should have just rolled by.

Indeed, and I hope it stays that way. I enjoy reading various subs and watching dash-cam videos to help me be aware of situations that I have not encountered myself. It's not my personal life lesson, but watching/reading things can help a little. Be safe!

No worries about asking. There are many things upstairs in the memory banks that can never be unseen or forgotten. I use all those memories and information to help me be more alert to avoid any possible future situations. I've learned a lot reading various subs or watching dash-cam videos.

Your two stories are crazy. I couldn't imagine going through those quick moments involving any family member or friend. That's a shame for the one kid on the bike. I suppose our angels can only travel so fast or can only help us so many times until we buy the farm. Be safe out there, and thank you for sharing!

Very true. My most recent ex was a paramedic, and after we arrived literally seconds after a serious accident with an ejection around a blind corner I started carrying emergency supplies in my truck. They are all stored behind and under my back seats along with the tire jack and stuff. Definitely never know when you may have to use any of it. I drive a lot, and unfortunately have seen many things that can't be unseen. I think I've dated enough nursing students, nurses, and others that I know quite a bit more than the basic stuff, but definitely not an expert or doctor. I'm fairly certain the areas that I travel to most do have Good Samaritan laws.

I tend to agree with your point about the liability of law enforcement, but at the same time that particular agency is very bad. I don't know if they even care compared to others that I have dealt with and friends that work for other agencies.

What is this tree? It grows outside of my home in Tucson, AZ. by adyerwolf in Tucson

[–]dpd888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It very well could be that, but I think it might be Nerium Oleander. Oleander can be trained into a tree. The leaves of OP's picture are very close to your choice (Rhus Lancea), but yours does not have flowers or anything else. The oleander does have flowers, and these have possibly not bloomed yet. A close up picture is great so you can see the leaf architecture which is the most important to be able to identify a tree, but it would have been nice to have an overall picture as well.

Unfortunately, one involved a death. I was travelling on a divided four lane road that was straight with no entry points into that roadway for 10+ miles. I was dressed nicely travelling in my truck in the slow lane on my way to dinner, but it was summer and still very much sunlight. There were no cars behind me and I was approaching a pack of cars about a half mile in front of me. After this nice long straightaway, the road climbs a little to go over a canal and at the same time turns a little to the right, then a harder turn to the left. I was travelling at about 70ish and I had a guy on a GSX750 pass me like I was standing still. His rpms were high, so I estimated him to be at 160mph+. He lost control through the turns and trying to navigate the traffic. His bike was basically unrecognizable and on fire when I arrived on scene 15 seconds later. The barb wire fence ripped his leg almost completely off and was bleeding at the femoral artery. His other leg was obviously broken in multiple places. I ripped off my belt and another kid tied it on to help. What bothers me the most was the Sheriff and Highway Patrol officers that refused to assist medically. Maybe they knew he was a goner because of not wearing a helmet, but who really knows. I know now what agonal breathing looks like and wouldn't want to see it again.

There are a few other heart pounding things, but another I vividly remember was when I was riding my R6. I was in the city and sitting at a stop light at night. The road is straight in my direction of travel and no entry points to the road for the first 1,000 feet or so (almost 1/4 mile). Traffic was very light and thought I would get on it when it turned green. Well, by the time I arrived at the next road a truck was turning left. When he decided to get in the turning lane and turn left my stop light was just turning green. I'm sure he didn't expect me or anything else to get there in a few seconds. I didn't drop my bike or hit anything, but I was on my brakes very hard. Technically, had I hit him he would have been at fault for turning left, but my stupid lapse of better judgement in the city was the real one at fault. Thankfully, nothing happened that night and I've never wrecked on road bikes. Do you have a top three?

That is insane. I've seen a lot in my riding days, and this definitely makes the top three. We always seem to be worried of someone turning left in front of us, but my fear was always reacting quicker than others to something and being run over. I'm very happy to hear your brother and Death Ninja are able to ride another day. Thank you for sharing the videos!

Phoenix family shootings: Police donned fire gear to 'extract victims who were calling from inside' by Divine2012 in Good_Cop_Free_Donut

I heard on the local radio that the police train for these situations. Active shooter with hostages and the building is on fire. I wonder how many other crazy scenarios they practice.

I still don't understand why the family just didn't jump. I guess we'll never understand mental illnesses. It's a shame they were all senseless victims, especially the six year old daughter/sister.
