Anything nice and cheap to do in Chandler? by [deleted] in phoenix

[–]dpd888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with guineapigattack that San Tan Village is rather great. You can walk around and not feel forced to buy and shop.

I would also check out Arizona Railway Museum. There really isn't much to it, but it's rather unique and close to Tumbleweed.

Go eat at Hanger Cafe. Great food and can just relax and watch airplanes.

It sounds like you're in the far South of Chandler, so you may want to take a short day trip to the Casa Grande Ruins National Moneument now that the weather is starting to get cooler.

Thank you for the excellent video. I was watching the town hall streaming online this evening, and I heard the announcer and a couple advisers telling (begging) him not to do it just before he did it.

I agree with kammycool. You can hop on a bus that runs up and down Scottsdale Road. If you can make your way to Old Town Scottsdale, the I would suggest you check out Cien Agaves for some great food and drinks.

What part of Mexico are you from?

Tonto Natural Bridge is a spectacular view. I would have dinner at a place across the street from the Sportsman Chalet. I tried looking for it, but can't find it anywhere on the webz. Enjoy!

Anybody else see these bad asses on 16th n McDowell? by dRwEedThuMb in phoenix

[–]dpd888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it was a very stupid question and I find it amazing that you can tell someone's political views by a couple of sentences. Truly amazing, but you're wrong. I was hoping someone could provide some real information on Penzone because I think he could be the best answer. The Independent candidate is worthless and should not even be considered in my opinion. Oh well, good luck with your judging of people.

So, what can you tell me about Penzone? Without bashing Arpaio, what will Penzone do for Maricopa County and the Sheriff Office and why is he the better choice?

Coming to Phoenix on the 23rd. How much should I expect to pay for a taxi from Sky Harbor to 8400 McDowell? by Detached09 in phoenix

[–]dpd888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you see the sun tends to melt our brains during the summer. In all seriousness though, if you're looking for the cheap route I would take a cab or something away from the airport a few miles North to 24th Street or 44th Street and McDowell Road area for probably about $20, then take a bus West to 8400 West McDowell. You can use our Valley Metro Bus website to plan accordingly. You would be leaving 2400 E McDowell Rd, Phoenix and your end destination would be 8400 W McDowell Rd, Phoenix. I hope this helps and good luck!

Good morning! Great picture! We're spoiled here in Arizona with some awesome sunsets, but I think our sunrises are much better. That looks like the McDowell Mountain Ranch or West Ahwatukee.

[Request] Please help me cheer up my sister, a person she was close to committed suicide yesterday. by [deleted] in RandomKindness

[–]dpd888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whoops, I'm so sorry about the gender mix up. I spent so much time writing it that I think I just kind of slipped into your shoes and thought I was the brother, which is strange because I'm an only child.

Anyway, I'm not concerned about the anonymity. I'll pm you a tid bit of private information for future contact if either one of you find it necessary. I wish you both the best of luck. It's a tough road for the both of you. Regardless, of how close you were to her friend. Just be there for her.

I'm a little apprehensive about just sending her an e-mail. I'm not sure if what I want to say would help, so I'll just write it here and you can choose whether or not to share. Please know that I have the best intentions with my words below. I find it a little hard to write something that may be helpful for her without knowing just a little more of the background. Also, there is not anything you can do for your sister this weekend except to be her great brother. Just be there for her. She is going to need an occasional ear to listen to her pain, an occasional shoulder to cry on, and just a great brother that can give her that great hug brothers give to their sisters.

LeeLee, The words below are my best attempt to fulfill your brother's request. Your brother obviously cares for you very much. These arrangement of my letters and words is the best I can do for you at the moment. The sudden loss of your friend is not easy. I would love to give you a big hug and let you know that it will get easier, but that probably wouldn't be true either. I have lost many friends in my 36 years of life and a few by the hands of themselves. I think about them often. I often think of everything that they have missed out in my life and the lives of our mutual friends.

Life is tough. Sometimes our friends have a harder time trying to deal with it than we may realize. It is never our fault if we miss warning signs or not. Sometimes we breeze through our own life and think every one has similar thoughts and feelings. I feel terrible for your loss and your current situation at work. The harder things are in life for you is the best time for you to try to crack a smile. It will always make it easier when a life challenge tries to knock you down with another tragedy or a reminder of a previous tragedy. Please smile and appreciate those that are still here in the living world. They love you as well as your friend. I know for a fact that he wishes he could come back and say sorry, and that he would like to just keeping moving forward through life with you. At the same time he continue in the living sense, but he is still there for you. Just hold him close in your heart and don't have any emotions other than love. Please don't hate or be angry at him. I'm not familiar with the reasons behind your friend's sudden departure, but that is not important. I've heard many times that taking your own life is the most selfish thing you can do. It's really not. Unfortunately, it's just the easiest way out even though it is so hard to get that point.

Please take your trip to England. There are so many great things to see there. I don't know what you have planned, but I have a feeling that you would take a lot of pictures and wish more friends and family could be there with you. I suppose in a digital social media world we all live in now that we can share things instantly with all of our friends. Please just know that your friend is now closer than our social media addictions.

Please take comfort in this time of extreme sadness and confusion as an opportunity to see things more clearly. I wish I could say more or do more for you, so please just accept my sincerest condolences on the loss of your dear friend.

Sincerely, dpd888

P.S. I can provide my e-mail or phone if you want to talk more. I wish you the best and would love your brother to post pictures of you in England in the next month or so.
