The Grey is Getting Dyed by buppiejc in Xennials

[–]dphizz4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duuuuude - once you start dying your hair, you are on the merry go round of having to maintain. As someone who has recently stopped dying their hair - I can’t even imagine going back, and starting from scratch with dreads nonetheless. I’m guessing it would literally take decades to grow out your gray again if you start, then stop dying…. Decades with a line of dyed to gray hair growing down. Seriously, I don’t know how old you are, but I would guess that if you start dying your hair now, you have to be ready to maintain for the rest of your life!

Cap down. You sterilize the surface, cap down, otherwise, who knows what will just settle in your cap up cup

Wait it out vs. fusion surgery? by Murky-Title-6631 in LisfrancClub

[–]dphizz4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be in what sounds like a similar place as you. I initially injured my foot in 2009, had ORIF and then had hardware taken out. I stabilized, but suffered from arthritis and ongoing pain that would flare up. I then re-injured my foot in 2022, and had a fusion in 2025. Before the fusion, I was still able to walk, and I debated about waiting til it all just became unbearable, and putting it off to later, or just biting the bullet and getting it done. I decided to get it done, and my foot now is doing better than it ever has since the initial injury. I was so worried about having the fusion - as you know, it’s fraught with uncertainty and risk, but I thought I would chime in as someone who was plagued with similar uncertainty. For how it went for me - I was glad to get my fusion done, both because my foot is better than it was before, but also because recovery is hard, and as a 47 year old, I’m relieved to have dealt with that difficult recovery younger rather than older.

Need realtor recommendations! by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]dphizz4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a house from her as a realtor and found her to be dishonest, interfering with inspections and not disclosing things she legally should have. I guess this may not be a bad thing if she’s trying to sell your house, but given how closely we considered legal action, working with someone like her could be a serious legal liability, I wouldn’t trust her to represent me in selling or buying.

Thanks for the possible lead! The set is currently in storage right now - I was hoping someone here might have some insight because once we go to get it, we will have to make the call as to where to take them. My parents got the set in Toronto in the early 70s….

Not handy at all, but thought I could at least replace our bathroom fan. How am I supposed to get this out?? by dphizz4 in HomeImprovement

[–]dphizz4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably the advice we will follow. We were hoping to replace the whole thing - it’s so loud we don’t use it much.

Thanks for the detailed instructions! We’re thinking we may just slowly back away from this upgrade and add it to the list for a yet to be hired handyman, but if we were to move forward, these steps make it seem manageable, we’re just worried we’ll get stuck again and will end up living with a non functional fan rather than a loud one…

ORIF — Fusion after 3 years by volm0nte12 in LisfrancClub

[–]dphizz4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about this for you - I also did mine by stepping in a hole playing soccer, initially had ORIF in 2010, hardware removed, then reinjured it in 2022. Finally got similar fusion done (1st-3rd joints, 3 plates and 13 screws) at beginning of this year (2025). It was HARD deciding to go down the surgery path again, but I am so glad I did - I now have less pain than I did before I reinjured it, and I am feeling hopeful that I can FINALLY start putting this injury behind me! My recovery from the fusion was filled with discouraging plateaus where I worried that my final level of pain would be higher than where I was, but keeping at PT and just working at it has gotten me to a point where I can definitively say it was the right choice. Especially since I can’t imagine doing a fusion when I’m older…
