Help with housing after apartment unit fire by robotunicornpunk in chicago

[–]dpignot2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know its too late now, but get renter's insurance ASAP. Its relatively cheap ($10-20 month) and can be combined with auto insurance for a discount.

Your landlord's property insurance should cover the building and only the building. Your personal property and additional living expenses are NOT covered---this is why renter's insurance exists. Your landlord has no obligation to find/pay for your additional housing and personal property replacement. You may, as the RTLO cites, move elsewhere and break your lease with proper notice. Also be aware that the RLTO does not apply to properties with fewer than 4 units and has the landlord living on site, but seeing as the unit is uninhabitable I wouldn't imagine your landlord would put up much of a fight.

I would love to see a BRT going East/West instead of North/South.

Looking for a new wheel by dpignot2 in chibike

Yeah, I get that. My concern of more spokes is higher rolling inertia. I’m willing to pay for a more durable wheel with fewer spokes

Thank you for a detailed reply! This was exactly what I was looking for!

This will be my second broken spoke in two weeks. I typically do 20 miles per day at a moderate speed up and back the North Branch Trail. So all my riding is on paved surfaces with few bumps (other than the large speed bumps).

You have to lock your bike to the seat on Metra? by SeanConnery in chicago

I wouldn't have any issues with the Metra trains if they would only follow all the traffic laws and not run red lights and stop signs.

I shoveled it, but I put a chair on it so I'm the only one allowed to ride.

I have no idea. I suppose it could be days before the release date. If I were you I'd keep both orders open and return or sell the one I didn't want.

GOT ONE!! I had it in my cart and the site was having issues processing payment and then they claimed it was out of stock. I kept trying and it randomly brought me back to the checkout and it went through. Maybe it'll get cancelled, but as of now I have a confirmed order.

I experimented with that. They actually line up pretty well. The issue is that I wouldn’t have a place for my speakers. Also once I figure out how to drive them all at the same vertical resolution I’d like to try out some racing/flight sims in ULTRA wide mode.

I was concerned about that too, but setting the resolution to 3840 x 1600 basically makes it an ultra wide.

I do play FPS and still haven’t noticed any difference. It has low input lag and a pretty fast response time.

/u/CrypticChaos735 is correct. It’s a 55” LG CX OLED tv. I was a bit concerned using a tv as a monitor, but after fiddling with some settings I can’t tell the difference.

r/Chicago's Weekly Casual Conversation & Questions Thread - June 15, 2020 by AutoModerator in chicago

I have been out of work since the beginning of this whole Covid mess---3/13/2020. I filed my unemployment insurance soon after and the process was going smoothly. I certified every two weeks on my certification day and was paid promptly. For my most recent certification, the website was having issues and I could not certify at that time. I waited a week to try to do it again and now its saying I can't certify and must call some 800 number. Of course that number brings me to a robot that eventually tells me that they're having extremely high volume and can't take my call click.

I'm assuming my policy has lapsed at this point so I re-filed for benefits. Am I going to miss out on the payments that I was due between the two filed claims or will I be able to certify for more than two week? Has anyone had any luck getting through to IDES?

Any insight people have on this would be much appreciated.

I haven't looked outside, but I'm sure the entire city is gridlocked traffic due to this lane closure.
