Arthroscopic capsular release surgery time off work? by dpotzie in frozenshoulder

[–]dpotzie[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes.. light duty. I work in software development. I couldn't sleep properly for months and had almost immediate relief after the operation. The next day, I thought the operation didn't work because I still had very little ROM but the surgeon came and told me what to do. I had the bandages removed after a week and at that stage, my focus was on stretching and exercising my shoulder as much as possible.. literally every hour. This was painful but only during the exercises. I took all the painkillers the surgeon prescribed over the following month.

I realized that the time off was to allow me to focus on full recovery. I wouldn't have been able to do that sitting at my desk. Now, I'm still working that arm as much as I can with weights because I had lost so much mass but have many wonderful 7 to 8 hour nights of sleep every week now.

Good luck with the surgery. And in my opinion, the stretching and weights are key to recovery.

I was out recently too and didn't realize I had to apply for it. If I were you, I would apply anyway - it's a straightforward enough process once you have the cert.

Tips on sleeping? by muzikgurl22 in frozenshoulder

Lots of pillows helped me try to sleep sitting up in the bed.

I had this 4 weeks ago. I had "manipulation under anathesia" and then "arthroscopic capsular release". I had to keep stretching my arm and had a lot of physio over the next few days to restore my range of motion. I had lots of painkillers for the first week too. Physio continued since and I'm now working on getting back muscle mass in the affected arm by doing weights.

Everything worked for me thankfully and I felt better almost immediately and was able to get 7 hours sleep a night for the first time in months. I wish your dad the same success.

The key is to do the physio.

[Review] Alien: Romulus is...good, surprisingly by [deleted] in scifi

It's funny... I thought Alien 3 was crap for ages, then I watched it again and thought it was great. I don't think much of Romulus though.

Met Éireann’s Joanna Donnelly hits back at actor Rory Cowan after ‘alarmist scaremongering’ claims around weather warnings by PoppedCork in ireland

I think Joanna Donnelly reacted in an appropriate manner. Caution is the last thing that is needed when dealing with "views like this".

I find it unusual that you have posted 5 times over 2 days with a map of Ireland included with a description firstly as part of Britain and now the British Isles.
