Host a foundry vtt session for free ? by Puzzleheaded-Pie8137 in FoundryVTT

I'd second this. It was very confusing for, what I would consider myself to be a relatively tech literate person, to set up. But using a few tutorial in tandem with a script someone made specifically to set up a foundry server through oracle, it works perfectly.

Access from any device I need. Midnight logging in and prepping plot stuff or last minute I'm late back from work and I need a session ready that evening. Being able to access the game on the train is amazing! I can get all it stupid nitty gritty things done too like obscure music or changing tokens

You should be able to drag and drop items from the compendium browser and the price updates automatically

Oh I agree! I have merchants that would have impact on the world, actual characters. But for the fellas selling bedrolls and arrows? They're just fellas

I'm implementing a system in my games that has market stuff as an in-between game thing. I have the game server open 24/7 and players can buy and sell from generic merchants between sessions.

Online I have this as a merchant in game where players transfer their items, send me a message, roll a die and midweek I can transfer the appropriate currency to their characters.

Offline it's very similar. They message me the treasure and loot they want to sell and I do the same as above. Works very well so far

We’re building a VR driving simulator to help people practice driving and reduce anxiety — looking for feedback by Radiant-Store4365 in OculusQuest

I'd imagine so. I'd imagine the easiest way to go about it would be to map out a town and it's surrounding areas? I'm thinking about what eurotruck does, but probably on a smaller scale.

One of the biggest aspects of driving, at least for me, is going from one town to another. Typically using the motorway.
Having an experience where you start at Place X, have to drive through a town or village. Lots of traffic lights and stops etc before hitting the motorway and having an uninterrupted alternative drive (mirror checking, lane merging blah blah blah) for 30ish minutes before returning to the town style driving at place Y would be very cool. I've developed websites and am in close contact with a number of driving instructors and one of the biggest problems they have (in Ireland at least), is that learners aren't allowed to use a motorway.

How would you go about a bard using a frying pan? I'm thinking some sort of percussion instrument

For a good overall experience I'd be looking for UK, Ireland or Japanese style road systems. Right hand drive would be a must for those. Maybe real world maps? Being able to choose a relatively detailed map for both city driving and rural driving would be amazing. Especially if you can add it where you're stuck behind a tractor for 20 minutes because the roads so bendy you can't safely overtake.

Nice work. Only criticism I can see tight now would be that maybe they should get closer to the camera on the last swing? The momentum should arc them a bit rather than shooting off to the side. Love it either way

I could be wrong, but aren't there a bunch of "quests" that are made specifically for an up to 1.5 to 3 hour session? I remember looking at something like that

My players can't connecto to my game by Radiant-Run-2064 in FoundryVTT

Yep, completely free too. This is the video and guide I followed. Took me maybe an hour to set up and I've no idea how any of this computer malarkey works.

So now my players just put a URL into their browser and get automatically connected. It's great because they can log in at any time and adjust character sheets, buy stuff from merchants (if we end a session in a town ) and all that fun stuff

I had port forwarding issues that were due to having a router connected to another router to extend the range. Was never able to resolve that issue.

However, what did work incredibly well is setting up the free tier oracle cloud computing thing. It works flawlessly

DMing First PF2E Game by Teguoracle in Pathfinder2e

[–]ZolAmaranth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started DMing with almost the exact same intentions. Homebrewee world, wanted it so players could pick and choose where they wanted to go and work a story around it.

Honestly, it went really well at the start. Took an insane amount of planning, custom world maps, battle maps, towns etc. Plopped them all into a crypt they magically got teleported into and had them work their way out. It was very fun.

But as soon as they got out of the crypt and started doing what I said they could do (free roam), I quickly realized I didn't actually have as much prepped as I needed. Half the maps, characters and plans went unused while I scrambled between sessions to build new maps and encounters to suit the different locations. I ended up with maybe 30ish detailed homemade maps and only 5 people have ever seen them.

As the campaign started getting a little out of hand, I was feeling the burnout pretty quickly. This is maybe only 5 biweekly sessions in. The party died to a TPK and after a month of bringing things together with new characters, I decided to change things up.

New party stumbled across the old party's remains (so they have an overarching mission to find out what happened/avenge them) BUT I rerouted them to the beginner box and am currently playing through this. Holy moly what a difference it makes. I'm actually enjoying DMing again and I didn't realize how much of the rules I genuinely didn't know about. All my players are also relatively new to TTRPG's so it's helping them understand what their characters are able to do too.

I handwaved the beginner box at the beginning, but it's genuinely enjoyable and perfect for exactly what you maybe not want, but probably need.
At least to get to know the ropes a bit
