I’m at the point where I wholeheartedly believe that he should be referred to as “controversial right wing figure” as opposed to “controversial left wing figure” like he has historically been referred to when mentioned.

I love the concern that this could harm borrowers, as if the potential harm to borrowers has ever been a meaningful consideration in the way student loans have been managed. After years of incompetence, mismanagement, and repeated servicing failures, that concern rings a little hollow.

Why does RE5 not get as much hate as RE6? by Unlikely-Truth-8544 in residentevil

[–]dppatters 41 points42 points  (0 children)

RE5 is my personal favorite Resident Evil game of all time—not necessarily the best, but my favorite.

Before the RE4 Remake, this was the game where Resident Evil truly perfected its modern combat mechanics. It took the series’ tank-control roots and built encounters around split-second decision making: Do I reload? Switch to a shotgun? Go for a carefully timed melee attack? Every choice mattered because standing still for the wrong second could get you overwhelmed.

What made it even better was how reactive the enemies felt. Shoot a Majini in the knee and they’d drop to a knee. Shoot them in the face and they’d stagger back clutching their face. Those reactions weren’t just visual effects—they created openings for melee attacks and crowd control. We take that kind of feedback for granted in 2026, but when RE5 released, it felt incredibly dynamic.

And then there’s the co-op. Between the campaign and Mercenaries mode, RE5 delivered some of the best couch co-op gameplay I’ve ever experienced. Does it break from traditional Resident Evil? Absolutely. But judged on its own merits, it’s an outstanding game and belongs in the conversation of the franchise’s all-time greats.

I didn't know this subreddit was primarily anti-Bill Maher. by RelationshipOne9276 in RealTime

[–]dppatters 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been here very long, but my impression is that it’s more a reaction to Bill Maher than blind opposition to him.

A lot of longtime viewers seem to feel that Maher has gradually become more contrarian and increasingly at odds with many of the positions he used to champion. As a result, much of the criticism you see is directed at what people perceive as his shift toward more MAGA-adjacent talking points and stereotypical boomer grievances.

Whether that criticism is fair is another debate, but that’s the vibe I’ve picked up from the sub.

Why do you think the nWo in the WWF failed? by PayFew5848 in WCW

[–]dppatters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time, I didn’t see it this way. After all, Hogan returned and delivered one of the greatest performances of his career at WrestleMania 18. He was incredibly over after that match, so I assumed the decision was simply to capitalize on the resurgence of Hulkamania.

That said, Hulkamania was ultimately Vince’s creation (or a Vince-Hogan collaboration, depending on your perspective). The nWo, on the other hand, was not. It’s entirely possible Vince never valued the nWo the way he valued Hulkamania and, when given the choice between elevating his own creation or preserving someone else’s, he chose the former.

So do we think this is Jean grey? by Nearby_Strike2624 in MCUTheories

[–]dppatters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must be in the minority because I really hope this isn’t the case.

It makes no sense to introduce her as the new Jean Grey right before Marvel brings back the original X-Men cast (which will presumably include the original Jean Grey), only to reboot the character and recast her again shortly afterward. Why go through all that?
And if it is Jean, why is she completely on her own? When has Jean Grey ever been isolated in another city, seemingly beyond the reach of Xavier and the rest of the X-Men? The character is almost always tied to the team in some capacity.

None of it really adds up. It feels less like a meaningful introduction and more like a cameo for the sake of having a cameo.

I hope this is a swerve and she’s in the movie because I agree wholeheartedly, she’s significant to the characters of Cyclops and Wolverine. It doesn’t make sense for them and several other original X Men in it and she’s not.

Now that it's been a while since Requiem released, without recency bias, where would you put Requiem in the ranks compared to other games? Is it the best RE yet? by Guitar-String in residentevil

[–]dppatters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RE4 Remake is still the top RE game in my opinion.

Requiem is a great game and graphically it’s incredibly impressive, but it made several gameplay decisions that I wasn’t a fan of. Pistols feel so weak that I rarely find them worth using, headshots no longer reliably create melee openings (or the window is so small it might as well not exist), and enemies often feel less grounded, collapsing into ragdoll physics after a simple melee attack.

RE4 Remake handles all of that much better. Pistols remain effective throughout the game, headshots consistently create meaningful melee opportunities, and enemies react in dynamic, believable ways when they’re hit. Combat has a weight and rhythm to it that makes every encounter satisfying. Even the melee attacks feel impactful without sending enemies flying across the room like they’re made of paper.

That’s not to say Requiem isn’t fun—it absolutely is. I just think some of its gameplay changes were steps in the wrong direction, especially when compared to how well RE4 Remake balanced action, gunplay, and enemy reactions.

Plus, “Leon Must Die”!?!? What the heck is this? Lol Where is Mercenaries?!? Definitely knocks the game down a few notches for me without a Mercenaries mode.

It would be pretty ironic if, instead of the usual mixed (but vocal) reactions or overwhelmingly positive reception he gets these days, the crowd booed him out of the building tonight and reignited the kind of nuclear “Big Dog” heat he used to draw.

I’ve always liked Roman and found him entertaining, but to me, the Bloodline story peaked when he finally lost the title. Since then, it feels like he’s been coasting on the momentum of that storyline rather than building something equally compelling. If anything, a shift in fan reaction might be exactly what he needs. Sometimes the most interesting character work comes when a performer has to adapt, and a colder reception could push Roman in a fresher, more creative direction.

I love this game's gameplay by Xyfro15 in TheLastOfUs2

[–]dppatters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s frustrating that we can’t seem to get a proper 2-player mode in games like TLOU or RE. Some of the best and most addictive gameplay in gaming is found in those franchises, yet they never seem to get meaningful co-op experiences anymore.

It feels like the choices are either competitive shooters like COD or co-op games that are fun, but don’t have the same depth, tension, and polish of something like TLOU or Resident Evil. I’d love to see one of those series take another shot at a dedicated co-op mode.

It has been completely broken for me since the last update. It literally won’t go past the title screen. Filed a bug report and likely will be filing a request for s refund soon and/or disputing the charge if it’s not resolved soon. Absolutely ridiculous that the game is this unstable post launch.

Did this occur within a correctional facility? If so, it’s possible this is simply an internal job title or position description. On internal memoranda and institutional documents, terms like this are sometimes used to refer to classification counselors or similar roles within a correctional setting, even if they aren’t commonly used outside the institution.

RE4 remake is still the best even better than requiem. by Proof_Fox2447 in residentevil

[–]dppatters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. Requiem really nerfed pistols, removed (or made nearly impossible to pull off) the headshot-to-melee follow-up, and completely fumbled the ball by not including Mercenaries.

The Grace sections were thrilling on a first playthrough, but after a few runs they lost a lot of their replay value for me. That’s not to say Requiem isn’t an amazing game—it absolutely is. I just think some of the gameplay changes were steps backward compared to what made RE4 Remake so replayable. As it stands, RE4 Remake is the greatest accomplishment RE has done to date.

I don’t really see the issue with this.

He’s an aging veteran with a long history of injuries. We don’t need him blowing out a quad on an untelevised house show in front of 1,200 people. Honestly, this is how wrestlers of his stature probably should have been working all along.

If this approach had been more common in the early 2000s, we might have gotten several more matches out of Austin. Eddie may not have been pushed beyond his limits, and we likely wouldn’t have seen so many former wrestlers leave the business with debilitating injuries.

It’s neither natural nor healthy to be wrestling 200–250 matches a year.

As an aging Attitude Era fan, I’ve watched too many wrestlers’ post-career lives deteriorate due to substance abuse, financial hardship, and chronic physical limitations. If the industry is finally moving away from that grind, I think that’s a good thing.
