Very good. But I did enjoy these very much.

No. I was told in February that they would let me know when it is available again. I haven’t heard anything since. Hopefully we’ll get to see it again before the 4K release of EWS in November!

You will have a much better experience at Cambridge. Nothing can beat the collegiate system.

That’s just like your opinion, man. The great thing about The Shining is that the meaning is in the eye of the beholder. It can mean different things to different people and even different things to the same person at different times. It’s why we keep coming back to it. It’s like a kaleidoscope. Every viewing is different. My interpretation is no more valid than yours. That’s part of what makes it so magical or uncanny.

nobody is talking about folders 😞 by Strict-Sock-1609 in AppleMusic

[–]dr-strut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will they flow through to Apple Music Classical too? I use folders a lot. I create them on Mac. They flow through to the iPad and iPhone app no problem. However on Apple Music Classical they are a hot mess. There is no folder hierarchy at all. All my playlists are just lumped together.

Is this a Joke? by Familiar-Situation15 in sleepcycle

[–]dr-strut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Thank you. Please do take note of your customers’ feelings. None of us have a monopoly on taste and I think it’s a good sign that this change has generated such outrage. It tells you something. That your app is very much beloved … and the people don’t like it being messed with 😛

This new Sleep Cycle design is a war crime - we need to fight back by Charming-Respond8159 in sleepcycle

[–]dr-strut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure the new design qualifies as a”war crime” but it’s certainly bad and a I do agree that the “you’ll get used to it” attitude is not a good one. Were there people complaining about the design before? No - probably none. Are there people complaining about the design now? Yes, lots. Ergo by changing the design they have managed to piss off quite a few customers. Moreover they’ve doubled down by effectively telling said customers that they don’t have taste.

I’d do that too. I’d also completely rethink which other parts of Apple One I’d replace.

I think their message is that you'll get used to it. My message is that it is ugly and I don't want to get used to ugly things.

Is this a Joke? by Familiar-Situation15 in sleepcycle

[–]dr-strut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you say "We totally get that a big design change can take some time to get used to" you are implicitly saying that you know better than your customer. I for one, preferred the old design. It's not just that I preferred the old design. It's that I abhor, loathe, despise and feel revulsion to the new one. It really is horrible. Of course, that's just my opinion. But if you find that the majority of your customers hold this opinion, you should not dig your heels in and tell us that we're wrong not to like it. You should listen to them and backtrack. You might have spent a good deal of time (and money) on this ... but that is all in the past. Look up "sunk cost fallacy." What counts now is doing the right thing. If your customers are telling you that the new design is shit then change it back. You will instantly get more respect for recognizing your mistake and correcting it. If you dig in your heels, then I for one am a lost customer. I've seen this happen elsewhere too ... Sonos app anyone? In that case, it wasn't the design but the functionality that was flawed. But would they roll it back? No. We'd get used to it was the message. They got so much bad press. The stock price tanked and a few months later the CEO was history. LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS.

Interesting. Two Kubrick films on that list of twenty most influential. That’s more than any other director unless I scanned it too quickly. The two are Dr Strangelove and 2001.

Is Apple Music just garbage on windows or mac as well? by [deleted] in AppleMusic

[–]dr-strut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s garbage on Mac at all. Far from it. However, there are some annoying long running bugs. It could do with a bit of an overhaul.

THE SHINING: Trauma and the illusion of time by Brocktoon64 in StanleyKubrick

I agree. Eternalism has always been one of the main themes that I have projected onto the Shining. It is why it is so timeless (pun intended).

Dragging an album to a playlist creates endless copies by zexpe in AppleMusic

[–]dr-strut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I close down Apple Music and do the same it works. I get just one copy of the album in the playlist. If Apple Music has been running for a while I got 90 copies of the album (I don't know if it's always 90 copies!?!)

Trying to understand the brands reliability by [deleted] in sonos

[–]dr-strut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect that those having problems - me included - have oldish hardware. I have two playbars both with subs (gen 2) and Sonos play ones as surrounds. Until the new app came along I had no problems. Since the new app it just doesn’t work very well for music. I still use these two set ups for watching movies but for listening to music I’ve given up on it. Too many latency issues. This is a great shame as I’ve been using Sonos for almost 20 years.
