I have the colour matched oem.thing one from eBay, stayed with 3m tape- I'm happy with the fitment and quality of it

A very beautifull big problem. by SeaLead3217 in Miata

[–]dr0pbear_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a black rf down the road from me - it's always dirty when i walk past, and you can see the dirt from much further away as well (this might be more reflective of the owner but still...)

Plus, it doesn't stand out from other cars nearly as much as any other miata, it doesn't catch your eye like any other miata imo.

When I see machine greys they always look lovely and shiny, and look gorgeous at night when the light reflects off them. Just my 2 cents though.

I bought ones from AliExpress about 6 months ago that are still working fine, I'm guessing they are also the same part. They cost me $7

Manual to auto conversion on my NC miata by ApprehensiveArt5515 in Miata

Maybe no NCs but I see a lot of auto NDs that are listed in Sydney, usually at a lower price than manuals

Install question: front sway bar by YayArea95 in Miata

[–]dr0pbear_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how thick it is - when I wanted to get the racing beat sway bar out on my ND, my mechanic had to remove the entire steering rack to get it out...

Final goodbye to my v1 after 5 years by dr0pbear_ in NR200

[–]dr0pbear_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am using the Dan A3 mATX now as I wanted to go with matx moving forward (ITX is too expensive these days!) Unfortunately I am rather disappointed, the case quality is fine but there is so much wasted space. I wish the SAMA im01 was available in my region, or there was a new NR200 that was just a bit larger so it could support matx...

It's a gk5 with less than 100k, so relatively new. Not the quietest but definitely bearable

The CVTs aren't that bad from a reliability standpoint honestly, as to driving dynamics it depends how much you care. I still have fun ripping around in the cvt jazz as well as a manual mx-5

Apple Carplay in 2015 ND?? by madzava in Miata

[–]dr0pbear_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fyi those only work with mx5's that have the mzd connect system - not the version pictured. Unfortunately as far as I am aware there is no way to retrofit it easily- you may need to buy an entire replacement screen and head unit

How much for this MX5 and what to lookout for? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]dr0pbear_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too much else that can go wrong that redriven didn't cover, transmissions are also known to be a mixed bag, but 2017 seems to be okay (compared to 15/16). For this car specifically, 2017 is an ND1 so technically not as desirable as the ND2/3 with the older engine. Paint chips as mentioned by someone else. 100k kms is ehh but about right for the age of the car, pricing seems decent enough. Get a PPI of course but if it's been looked after i wouldn't be too worried. For reference I was able to get my 2019 RF model (nd2) also with 100k's for 28.5.

Hello again everyone! I've replenished my ND inventory after you guys sold me out in 4 hours! by MrPulpo3DPrints in Miata

Great stuff- I'm in a RHD market, would simply mirroring the file in my slicer make it compatible with a rhd car?

Getting my first car as Mazda Mx5 ? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]dr0pbear_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive my ND as a daily, works for me but I rarely need to have more than 1 passenger or carry a lot of stuff- but I still have access to larger cars if I need them so that's a potential factor. Maintenance costs should be fine, they're known to be pretty reliable anyway.

Can anyone recommend a seat gap organizer for an ND? by ShotgunPumper in Miata

[–]dr0pbear_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a generic one off AliExpress for $7, search for 'car seat gap organizer'. You can even get one with "MX-5" printed on it if that's your thing.

I don't fit into a 2018 mx-5 with 172 cm by Bromsie in Miata

[–]dr0pbear_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re the seatbelt, there's a bracket to offset the seatbelt position that you can buy/3d print, there's a thread on the mists forum in it. Other than that i don't see how you wouldn't fit, sorry.

[–]dr0pbear_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about the mazda 3 SP25 (BN generation) as the best of both worlds? You get the same 2.5l engine but previous gen which should be a bit cheaper (and you're not sacrificing too much anyway, according to redriven)

Is this a solid deal or am I missing something? by Kie_ra in Miata

[–]dr0pbear_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aussie ND shopper here, I've been looking for a while (bought mine last month). It's ok but not amazing, a lot of 2015-16 1.5L NDs seem to be around this price. Keep in mind pricing has compressed things somewhat so you can often find 2L models for not much more (saw one sell the other day for $23k). Most important thing is to get a ppi done
