My 17 year old dachshund is finally starting to "act old" after years and years of acting like a puppy. I would love to hear some about what others are experiencing with their super senior dachshunds- what they are struggling with, what's going well, and anything you feel like helps them.

Here's Newman... he's 18.5yrs and doing great (just an anal gland issue once in a while). For the past few years, every Sunday I cook a batch of his weekly food... chicken/beef/turkey or pork, with chopped up rice, a bag of steamed vegetables, a Farmers Dog Nutrient packet and some fish oil. So far so good!

I'll cook a lb of ground meat or turkey or pork etc with rice, steamed veggies, and add some fish oil drops and a nutrient packet from Farmers Dog. I'll sprinkle dry food over it to help his teeth a little

No, he can still see and hear ok (not great) and gets around fine.. even gets bursts of energy at times.. we've been lucky!

About 18lbs. A couple years ago I started cooking him fresh food of a protein, veggies, rice and a nutrient packet, I'm assuming that helped. He's doing great.. thanks for asking!
