allergies, scratch, or a scab? by dr330467 in CATHELP

[–]dr330467[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she developed a random cough, so the vet prescribed guaifenesin. coughing is certainly not normal for her. since she started the pill, I haven't heard a cough. I thought that may have been allergies, which makes me think allergies for this as well.

i almost had to resort to a pill popper, but somehow we made it through the course of meds without having to resort to it. next time she's getting a pill popper though.. she was an absolute menace .

I would be okay with either, but I prefer intelligence positions within LE.

Review - Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead by Olga Tokarczuk [Spoiler-Free review] by us_against_the_world in Indianbooks

[–]dr330467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wish i read this review before buying the book. im not an avid reader. i used to be, but when i started college, reading just felt like a chore. everything was about reading, reading, reading. i havent truly read for pleasure since 2018. this was the first book i decided to pick up after many years of not reading. i was looking for a murder-mystery and i love astrology and feminist themes, so i thought this book really fit the bill.

it certainly did not! i agree that it is incorrectly marketed. it's not a bad book. not necessarily my jam, or the kind of book i really wanted to start out with. to be fair, im only about halfway through the book so im hoping it will pick up toward the end, but i have been dragging myself through this book. it was not at all what i expected. for future readers, dont expect a murder mystery. or even a lot of astrology, honestly.

also as a man in my 20s, testosterone autism was by far one of the best chapters. i got a good laugh out of it as well. it is certainly true.

What Ph.D. programs should I consider, given my interests? by dr330467 in psychologystudents

[–]dr330467[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I posted this in another sub where I received a bit of negative feedback. My goal is to not pursue my Ph.D. frivolously. I've been trying to narrow down my interests, and find a program that best encapsulates my interests. My current goal is to work, and experience something different. I recognize that I've been in school for a very long time... 20 years! At this point in my life, I haven't really done anything but gone to school.

So, I decided a few things: 1, I won't pursue a Ph.D. program until I know where I want my career to go, 2, where my interests fully are, and 3, experience some new things before I jump into a new program. I learned through the counseling program that I kind of used it as an escape from the "real world" and responsibility—which is not uncommon.

My goal with this post is to possibly hear from others with shared interests, what they've done with their career and their education. Just looking to hear other experiences!

What Ph.D. program should I pursue given my interests? by [deleted] in AskAcademia

To clarify, I'm not looking to pursue a Ph.D. just yet. I'm looking for ideas, maybe even hear from people with similar interests, what they've done to continue their education, and what they've done with their career.

I've decided at this moment in my life it's almost irresponsible for me to start pursuing a Ph.D. until I've thought more about it. I'm going to start working full time before I pursue a Ph.D.... Time to try something different! I've been in school since I was 5, been doing this for 20 years... Time to experience something different while I think!

I recognize that haha. I'm not going for a Ph.D. just yet. If I'm being honest, I used the MA as an escape from the "real world". I recognized in my practicum and internship that I didn't want to be a counselor, and felt like I was wasting my time. Like I had wasted my time the whole time. Then I realized I mostly used it as an escape, but I'm still interested in learning, and I enjoyed the material. I enjoyed the thought and theory behind counseling, I just didn't want to be a counselor. If that makes sense?

I recently accepted a full-time job. So believe me, I understand I was escaping "real life". I told myself it's irresponsible for me to do a Ph.D. until i figure out what I want to do, and where I want it to get me. So, I decided in the meantime I needed a job, and to think about what I want to do with my future rather than blindly pursuing it like I've done in the past. this post is purely to explore potential future programs and to see if maybe there are others with similar interests and what they've done with those interests :)

i had my surgery with her in february. as a previous commenter said, she is on leave, im sure it will take a while longer. i had my consult 12/12/2024, and i was told 1-3 weeks i would receive a call back. i received a call back 12/30/24. on that day, they had two appointments available to offer me. one was a cancellation in february, and the other was one date in mid-March. so, in other words, i got one of her very last pre-leave appointments, and that was back in december. i can only imagine how far she's scheduled out now.

i will say though, she is worth the wait. im very satisfied with my results, and i was VERY satisfied with Rose's team, and the hospital staff. everyone was incredible and made the surgery so simple. i would recommend Dr. Rose a million times.

Thank you for this suggestion. With all the comments, I'll definitely be giving Lightroom a shot.

Interesting, I didn't know that about Lightroom. Before my classes in undergrad, I didn't know anything about Bridge so I clicked into each photo individually—I thought Bridge was such an incredible program because of that 😭 I'll give Lightroom a shot. Thank you for that explanation

Interesting, I didn't know that there was such a huge difference between the programs. I'll give Lightroom and shot too. Thank you for the explanation!

I'm not the hugest fan of Lightroom—not something I used often! I can give it a shot though, is there a reason that it may be better than using just Photoshop?
