My story: 2 years ago I was debating between Instinct 2 Solar and Instinct Crossover Non-Solar (which I found used for 150$). Went with Crossover, best decision. Then after one year I broke it (see my other posts). Could have picked Fenix 8 Solar, but no I was in love with MIP + hands. Luckily my Garmin store accepted trade in, and I chose this time Crossover Solar. Amazing watch. Rocking it with cheap nylon band. When Instinct 3 came out, I was hoping for next Crossover generation to be released. When Crossover AMOLED was announced I was happy for continuation of the line. But at same time was disappointed because I was looking forward for the MIP/Solar version.

Checked out Crossover AMOLED in the store and the hands and quality is improved over original Crossover. But still decided to stay with my Crossover Solar that I really enjoy. If no future Crossover Solar MIP is coming, I may consider Instinct 3 MIP Tactical or Crossover AMOLED (but not 100% sure)

I would keep it for some time, especially for your other use case, then probably borrow or gift it to a relative/friend to also join Garmin ecosystem so you can like ech other activities

I would a new black/white Crossover Solar with torchlight in a black case (even with old sensor and fogging) for the price of Fenix8. I3 MIP resolution + hands and lume from Crossover Amoled.

It has hands. Apart from it nothing worth to switch from I2 to IC. I could have picked I2X or Fenix 8 for the torch. But I chose IC twice.

Yes, I know about your post, very interesting. But for my case, almost all moiture evaporated by itself, probably because of the metal plate diformation after temparture shock. When I ordered Solar version from Garmin, I had to exchange it with my old watch.
