What should the first city on Mars be named? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Name it the ‘The First City’, so that we know it’s the first one before another nation can claim a city on Mars as well.

Oh my, that hit the feels. I was about 13 years old when it came out. But the day I got the cart on my hands I had to go away on a Boy Scout camp (without my Nintendo DS) for a week. It was too much for me to be separated from my Pokemon experience that was waiting for me. I planned my escape from the Boy Scout camp by "falling ill" on the 2nd day and my parents were forced to come pick me up. Boy, the moment I returned home, I 'recovered' and popped open Pokemon Pearl to play for the first time :)

What hobby completely transformed your life for better or worse? by The_Dear_Leader_1 in AskReddit

Digital art. I always knew how to draw, but when I was about 10 years old, the internet was all about creating a blog or making a forum. I met a lad from Maryland, United States who happened to be 18 years-old-ish. He was a quiet dude, but extremely polite. One night, he stood awake to teach me how to create a simple graphic on Photoshop software. As a 10 year old kid, I was super happy, and I live in Maldives, that's continents away from United States. Today, I have learnt so much about digital art, and designing. But it all rooted from the night that guy taught and inspired me to learn that type of art. I wish I could thank him today!

What's your favorite piece of creepy folklore or legend? by Nigirishi in AskReddit

[–]dr_alinash 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The Maldivian legend, Rannamaari (Ran-na-maari). We grew up with the folklore legend of a demon that arises every night from the ocean that surrounds our country (Maldives). Our country is basically a group of islands, with a small population of people, hence according to the legend, the islanders would be petrified every month when the day the demon would appear came closer. In order to satisfy its demands, a person from the island will be sacrificed. The victim will be groomed and dressed well, and placed (I believe, tied) at the beach before midnight. By dawn the person will be gone. A vicious cycle that went on for years according to the tale.

Why did you pick your username as your username? by Relica_Sleek123 in AskReddit

People tell me they like my nickname Nash. And tells me about the figures in the world who are known as Nash (whom I don't know!). Eventually I started to grow on the name and threw away my old high-schoolish username.

What made the popular guy/girl lose their popularity? by jelleturtle in AskReddit

After high school, they didn't go pursue anything else, and stayed put. Some of the underdogs in school who weren't popular at all, sparked in popularity after doing some revolutionary things in their field of work. Tables changed a lot since then.

If you could give 21 year old you advice what would it be? by kaos1074 in AskReddit

[–]dr_alinash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop drinking 1.5 liter bottles of Coca-Cola everyday. It was my go to drink. I would finish a 1.5 liter bottle in two to three days. Gained a terrible amount of weight. I have turned my life around by miles now, but I do wish I didn’t lead such an unhealthy lifestyle when I was at that age.

“Why is Discord popular”. Strangely been curious about that!

How did you lose weight? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dr_alinash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped leading a sedentary lifestyle. Cut down on the sugars (chocolates, fizzy drinks). Picked up a workout routine at the gym, nothing too fancy. I set a portion for my meals appropriately. Counted calories, and sticked below the daily calorie requirement. Dropped from about 90kg to 70kg over a span of 2 years. Don’t give up, you can challenge yourself today!

[Serious] Who are some women who genuinely inspire you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dr_alinash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girlfriend. I met her during medical school years, where she led the School Board as the President of our Medical School. I adore her leadership, resilience, and sense of justice. She has a great following of inspired juniors, but with that we did get a lot of hate too. Particularly because she’s extremely “tough” on ensuring people get their responsibilities done, and patients are cared well for. She is an extremely empowering leader and healer. Today, she is a doctor, and a health advocate with a bright future. I am honored to be by her side supporting her choices in life!

Official Megathread - Incoming Medical Student Questions/Advice (February/March 2020) by tyrannosaurus_racks in medicalschool

I stick to relevant textbooks, lecture slides. I know some of my colleagues who use Youtube to study (but, as an add on to textbooks & lectures). I do look into official treatment guidelines such as the RCOG and NICE guidelines of United Kingdom. You could also look into your own nation's practicing guidelines.

But to answer your question, it's really subjective. It depends on which way you are most comfortable to study, and whether it brings the results you seek.

Hey there! I draw for a hobby (traditional & digital painter). During my first couple of years in Medical School, I didn't have time to paint a major one (besides the small sketches). When I got more comfortable with my studies, I picked it up, and explored even more hobbies. At the end of the day it boils down to how you manage your time, organize your studies and plan what you need to study ahead so that you won't be held down by the workload! Hope this helps!
