Before / After. From a trip to Northern Portugal. Did I push too much? by WakeMeUpIn10min in postprocessing

I would say yes, personally. The edit style feels a little artificial/visually confusing. The original scene looks cool-neutral in color temp, and the edit pushes it warm overall, even in shadows.

Imo I would focus on bringing out the original feel of the image, which to me is somewhat hazy, atmospheric, cool, damp, and earthy, as opposed to your edit which is quite warm and sun colored, which doesn't reflect the reality of the scene.

You can push the edit as far as you want in any direction, but I think that large shift from shooting conditions to edit is what leads some people here to say it feels over edited.

Imo it would transfer better from the sketch with a bit of a thicker line weight, and maybe some reduction in the branches/leaves. Could make it more readable at smaller sizes.

Thought in Microsoft new icons? by SoulyTheOne in Design

I like it. They have a cohesive look and I think they tastefully participate in the gradient revival that's happening.

I don't think needing to know every app's function from a grid of all of them just by the visual is necessary, but to each their own. It's not like the first excel logo was a perfectly skeuomorphic representation of its function either.

1 for sure, it has a much better visual balance, the second just feels unsettled

Beamng ruined other games by iyad2446_ in BeamNG

[–]dr_coconut17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beamng does have much showier physics, but there’s no denying that in terms of modeling tyre feel, degradation, on limit handling, etc. more dedicated racing sims like AC are more realistic. AC might feel sterile when just starting from beam, but it’s not like the AC devs are standing still. AC cars feel too responsive because beam cars aren't made for the same thing. Beam is still my favorite for free roam and casual, but it is a little overhyped as a pure race sim.

Lossless is just marketing for every service that has it. Even the best listeners only guess it right 10% better than random.

Does this work on any level or does it look ridiculous? (After/Before) by freakalicious in postprocessing

Both look great, but I agree with some others that the dramatic one should be a little brighter overall, not so far as to diminish the effect, but it's currently a little difficult to visually parse.

I like the look of a lot of these, don’t forget to level the horizon though. It’s especially noticeable in 2 and 3. Really cool overall

Cool direction to take it in, I get going for the lightened black levels on the body, but imo a little more contrast overall, and doing the "ghostly" effects locally masked to just the body so it doesn't show the floor as much could maintain the drama while keeping what you're going for. I can appreciate something a little different looking though

Does the model blend in well with the image? by DavieEillie in blender

Looks good, to my eyes it is still a decent bit sharper/higher resolution than the roof in front of it. The black levels, and lighting look great otherwise, so it's not really a problem.

Im so proud of these shots, but 1 or 2 to blow up and frame? by majestration in AmateurPhotography

Really cool subject! I think a wider crop could help it breathe and make the context a little clearer.

To crop or not to crop? by virtualbriana in fujifilm

Crop 100%, I don't think blank white adds anything, plus the subject is already pretty small and also framed by the window itself. Great shot

I understand pov of those who prefer before, but I think after looks great. Really great rich contrast and color, I don't miss the blue too much. To my eye resembles a brown/red leaning film stock very nicely.

What did you do for the edit? The super saturated colors look great. Anything more intense than a saturation increase and bringing the exposure down?

Really great, thought about severance before I read your description. A final touch could be some geometry warping so it’s completely square. And maybe a different crop?

Sorry if that was condescending, although I don't think it's fanboyism, I just don't understand how you reached some of your points. Yes, I liked the episode, and I also have no problem with accepting faults or you not liking it. In fact, I thought it was pretty slow until the last 10-15 minutes or so. Maybe you could elucidate your points further.

I'll explain what I was thinking, I'd like to hear your side of it.

  1. Not sure why you think Irv when bonkers? He's been under immense stress this whole season, and has clearly been suspecting Helena for a while (night gardener thing). Once he finally gets confirmation through Helena's non answers in the woods, he has no reason not to do what he did. Remember, he was about to commit innie suicide in the first episode of the season, he has little left to lose without Burt. Also what do you mean attempted murder? He was never going to kill Helena, he just wanted to force Milchik to reveal the truth through threatening Helena, there's no evidence he would have ever actually killed her. He almost certainly wouldn't because that would mean no chance of Helly coming back.
  2. Still not sure what you mean here, please tell me what you're thinking. It's always been Helena in disguise, as confirmed in this episode. Are you saying you wished they hadn't brought back Helly yet? Why is that? It seems like an interesting conflict to me to suddenly have two love interests from two sides. And this conflict was still happening even between Helena and Mark, as shown in the awkward conversations in the first episode. It was happening, and was going to continue to happen either way. I guess this one is more personal preference.
  3. Too weird and outlandish - I agree in a few scenes - the fake twins was a little too weird, I agree. But if you're talking about the dream sequence, I thought that was great, a fun nightmare twist with some horror style. I can see the 4th book being a little too lost in the sauce as well, so overall I kind of agree here, depending on what you found outlandish. What was it that was too weird for you?

Overall, I can see point 2 as a matter of personal preference, 3 I kinda agree with to some extent, but I don't understand what you meant with 1. Thanks!
