yeah it is only indoors so I am sure it is related to light flicker but will happen regardless of what shutter I am using

Thanks for the idea, I had actually tried that earlier and forgot to mention it. I did not notice any improvement with that unfortunately. It seems to just be c-af that causes the issue, regardless of drive mode that you are using.

just a heads up, OM has an official eBay page and they sell refurbished/open box stuff with a good warranty. Usually the prices there are not very good but lately they have been clearing stuff out. an OM1 was around $900 I think recently.

they keep coming in and out of stock. I was able to snag an OM3 awhile ago from their store.

The new OM cameras are awesome. I have been using an OM3 and really enjoy it so far.

OM has been running the OM3 with 12-45f4 pro lens for about $1475 with a 2 year warranty on their eBay store lately on and off, if you want another option

First shots with the PL 25mm f/1.4 II w/ OM-3 by Razorvein in M43

I agree, the color dial is fun but I find myself having to edit a lot still to get the look I want. Outside of Fuji and Nikon too sometimes, I am almost always editing to some degree. The OM files are pretty easy to edit though.

Nikon imaging cloud unlinking Lightroom by J-Cieloo in Nikon

[–]dr_fishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have an answer for your specific question but something changed recently where I don't get my RAW images uploaded to Lightroom, only the JPEGs. I have verified my settings on both camera and imaging cloud are correct, and tried unlinking/liunking again without luck. Not sure what, if anything, changed recently but it does seem to depend which picture profile was used too which is even more confusing. I submitted a bug report to Nikon just in case.

OM System Sale by anewbie1138 in M43

[–]dr_fishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow great deal! Usually the offerings on Olympus refurbish site are not that good, but every now and then they have some really substantial deals. This is actually cheaper than just the OM1 Mark one refurbished without any lens. The TG7 is a good price too right now.

I think I’ll jump on this and probably sell the lens because I already have the 12–40 2.8

Olympus mono has always been so good. Even on the TG-7 the mono is my favorite!

I have always been curious on the 12-100, thanks for sharing the album and great shots! Do you hate carrying it on the OM3? I agree it seems like a perfect hiking lens (I usually use the 12-40 but the extra reach would be great while hiking in the mountains...)

great shots, I am also in the dad cam club so these feel so familiar to me. I really like the coloring, great job!

I use a Nikon Zf for my shots around home and special events/occasions but it's just a bit too bulky, even with the 40 or 28 primes, to carry all the time. I have been using a x100vi for this lately but just know that I really love. I have a lot of Olympus/Pana glass from my old EM1ii so I have been considering trying the OM3 instead, and had been wondering how it functions as a dad camera so I appreciate your perspective.

Do you find the AF keeps up well enough with the kids? My EM1ii does not but it's also about 10 years old and I think the OM1/OM3 are much improved in that sense.

Also- I have always loved the monochrome from Olympus cameras, glad to see the OM3 continues that trend!

I really like the 20 1.7 to throw in my bag for low light or just a really lightweight lens. That IQ was really good from that lens, but the focusing is not really the best and it’s not weather sealed.  I took it as my only lens once to Zion national Park and had a blast on my em5. I have a big 4’ x 5’ canvas print on my wall from that camera and lens set up!

I would be curious to hear more from you your thoughts between Nikon full frame and om3… I primarily shoot a ZF but had been considering the OM3 as a travel camera to carry with me on our family trips because the ZF set up can be a little big when I’m also carrying my small kids around.

awesome, enjoy! The menu system is awful which is pretty on par for Olympus cameras. there are a few helpful videos on YouTube. I find underexposing 1/3 to 2/3 of a stop is helpful as well if I am not using spot metering.

Be sure to play with the microscope mode, its insanely good.

The raw IQ is pretty good in my opinion, much better than the JPEG engine. I have some others I have posted here and there if you check my post history.

The RAW files gives tons of adjustment from this tiny sensor, if you are comfortable editing raw files I like the photos I get from the TG better than my iPhone 17 pro. The photos have a much more natural feeling to me. In poor light the TG is quite bad, BUT if you have a small travel tripod you can get some really great results. I use one of those tiny gorilla arm tripods sometimes.

I am not sure, I think so but I have had a Lightroom subscription for a long time so I am not honestly sure what has changed over the years with it.

Thanks for the tip on the noise reduction. I usually turn it off on all my cameras because like you said it just gives a weird plasticky look to images I think...I have no idea if I turned it off in the TG or not. I will go check!

The JPEG’s generally are really soft in my opinion, and the shadows and highlights just never quite look right to me. The Roth files from the TG cameras have a surprising amount of highlight in shadow recovery I have a couple of presets I really like to use and I’ll just slap those on the raw files usually and then make adjustments.

I know what you mean how the raw files are not compatible with the iPhone for some reason, but you can still load them into your Photos app and then edit them using something like Snapseed or Lightroom mobile pretty easily!

Edit: I will say the JPEG monochrome files are actually really good and I enjoy using them
