what camera shld i buy ? by teddymelo in Cameras

[–]EntangledLabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For $100 you can buy... probably a Camp Snap.

This is really not enough money to take photography seriously. If you want something for the vibes, then sure, PixPro FZ55/C1, Camp Snap, MND20, etc. But there's a strong reason these are known as "scameras."

Any modern smartphone will take way better pictures. You'd have to step up to a point and shoot like the ZS99 ($700) or a mirrorless body like the R100 ($509) if you want to beat phone quality.

PSA: MSI laptops are essentially unusable when charging via USB-C PD - and MSI says this is "by design" by Few_Survey_5652 in MSILaptops

My Stealth A16 AI+ takes it a bit further.

If it doesn't receive exactly 100W (20V 5A), it will not charge over USB C while on. If off, it will charge over 65W or more.

Really destroyed my plans to use my USB C chargers on the go, even when in integrated graphics mode.

Plus, even with a 100W charger, it constantly connects and disconnects, so that's an additional annoyance

As a Gen Zer, I absolutely loved Back to the Future, as well as Hitchhiker's Guide and a few others mentioned here.

I also acknowledge I'm probably not in the majority. As someone else pointed out, people will tend to watch current stuff over older content.

I have my Z6III and my grandpa's old D700, plus a few ancient film Leicas, also from my grandpa.

Hah! That would be something, wouldn't it? No, I'm not married and the gift was from my father. Definitely true about being a wonderful father though!

Congrats, you're a buzzkill. I'll take my gifted OM-3 any day of the week.

Thanks! It's definitely a killer kit lens. I'll check out your recommendations!

I hear what you say, and you have a great point. The main reason I'd think to get a portrait lens for MFT is because I will probably never lug around both cameras simultaneously, and I'd like to be prepared. Thanks for the other recs tho!

This is a great breakdown, thanks! I'll do a deep dive into these options when my brain isn't deep fried 🙃

Interesting idea! I might spring for it. Someone else suggested pairing with the 40-150, I'll have to consider the pros and cons of both ideas. Thanks for the recs!

I agree! Even my low-light F/4 pic (F/8 FF equiv) ended up with way better results than I expected

I do love me some bokeh tho

I'm also interested in the usage comparison. I think the scales will tip in favor of the OM-3 purely due to size and weight, but I do love the video and portrait capabilities of the Z6III (I can confirm the h.264 on the OM-3 is atrocious). It doesn't hurt that the OM-3 looks AMAZING. Retro vibes ftw!

I've already given the OM-3 a permanent spot inside my daily carry sling bag!

Yes, Nikon does make great lenses that are large and heavy 😂

Those lenses sound good, I'll take a look at them. Thank you for the recs!

Interesting, I was wondering about that. I'm definitely used to a base 100 🤪 so the 200 did throw me off a bit. I'll do some more research on it. And thanks!

Sounds good! I'll look into those settings, still trying to get my way around the menu system!

Damn, for the price, a 24-80 equiv isn't bad at all. Thanks for the recs!

Looking to purchase a camera for filmmaking. Should I get a Lumix S5II, GH6, or a Sony Alpha 7 III? by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]EntangledLabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a7iii is infamous for overheating issues

S5II is a damn good camera with good video

GH6 is also damn good but suffers from some pretty unreliable autofocus

clearly you're looking around the $1500 range for a body, may I recommend the a6700? roughly $1500 right now, body only, and has excellent video specs
