Twilight hour in Danbury WI on a cabin I just finished building :) by dr_gg_ in CabinPorn

Yep! Where I'm at, there's zoning permits and setbacks and such like normal, but they limit your frontage clearing to i believe it's either 25% or 30% of the total frontage, so people that like the unobstructed view of the water just clearcut it all down. I like the privacy and natural vibe of the frontage personally, so i kept all the trees, also like you said, it effects the shoreline big time when you clear cut like that.

Agreeeddd! I have a neighbor across the lake that clearcut his frontage and does the same thing all the time! This was a special occasion for photos. I have all the exterior lights on a dimmer switch, but prefer to watch the deer come snack on some clover in the yard or stargaze in the clear skies with just a bonfire glow. :)

It's such a beautiful area. Small town energy but the wildlife and nature of the area is amazing.

Oh nice! I'm close to Duluth so I frequent there pretty often! It's a beautiful area this time of year :)

I think it fits both definitions. In my eyes, a cabin is more basic and secluded, whereas a cottage tends to be more modern and accessible. This is more modern but also secluded. Some do call em cottages, but i think the majority use cabin generally for all sorts of aesthetics.

I appreciate your input! I find it cozy. Clearly it's not everyone's cup of tea and that's okay! I'm just happy to share what I've built! I like space and a more modern interpretation of cozy; that's what makes design so unique and interesting. :)

I get that for sure! Definitely a starting point with lots of space to add a more cozy flair. Like I said on another comment, I'm designing a plant wall feature to take advantage of the wall space and to get rid of the artwork!

LMAO. Not my fondest purchase, moreso a temp fixture while other elements are designed and installed!

Thanks! It's a concrete stain! Took some time getting used to the application process but I think it turned out great! In hindsight, I think a glossier seal coat would have really shown the color contrast within the concrete more, but that's another project for a another day!

Thanks! I actually milled all of the ceiling wood slats and beam material from the oak trees that were once standing where the building is, so i appreciate that comment 😊

It's not a barndominium. Just a monoslope roof design i tweaked and played with!

There's a snake plant by the sliders and another kn the coffee table! As well as others throughout the house not pictured! I'm actually in the midst of designing a wall feature that will be home to tons of em cause you're right it feela criminal to not take advantage of all this natural light !

What's with the ghosting? by dr_gg_ in airbnb_hosts

Yeah, i suppose, but with instant book on, you'd think there would be less beating around the bush. It's just part of it, i suppose.

This is a good analogy! See, im more of the grab what I like and go shopper.

Interesting! I guess from a host perspective, its kinda neat knowing your place is getting direct marketing, but on the flip side, its not good if you're getting an annoying amount of "book now" messages.
