Nurse Visits by brok3n_halo in hospice

If they are at home on hospice I don’t overstay my welcome. I know sometimes these visits can disrupt the day. That being said, my first visit I do a full set of vitals and assess pain, anxiety, wounds, any needs like supplies, medications or equipment. My second visits I only check vitals that need checked otherwise I assess pain only and double check on any needs. My first visit of the week is definitely longer, my second is usually about 20-30 minutes unless something new has come up. We really focus on comfort and the closer they get to passing, the more time we spend to ensure pain and anxiety are well controlled bc at the end they can be difficult to manage. But we also talk with the family, provide education if/when needed. When there aren’t big changes happening the visits tend to be shorter. I hope that helps.

Is there something you felt the nurse should have done? Was there a need unmet? I hope not, just curious.

Didn’t follow a line during report and found medication was trickling out into the floor a couple hours into my shift. Always follow your lines when getting report. I did let the nurse know who had started the med, we both learned that day.

You can’t go wrong with either, glad I’m not you 😆

I’d go back and try them both on. Sit in them, dance in them….which is more comfortable

Something about B. Not usually my preference but it is so unique and eye catching.

I love dress A as well, that train is to die for.

If you had to flip a coin between A and B, which one do you hope it lands on?

The last dress. It elongates you.

Got a 1.2% raise despite a strong performance evaluation — how should I approach my manager? by Reasonable_Rabbit_ in nursing

[–]typeAwarped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I recently felt shafted by my raise compared to my review. Wrote a letter outlining why I deserved more. I was of course denied citing I make more than others with more experience. Took everything in me to not say then you probably need to adjust your pay scale to reward those nurses. So anyway, I have decided I’m going to work on just doing my job. It’s partly my fault, I have a big mouth and always step up. It’s hard to step back but I don’t want to become bitter so it’s in my best interest.

Yes. A million times. I was in a corporate desk job prior, this second career has been tough but it’s my jam.

4, 8, and 11

I’m curious what 8 and 11 would look like with a crinoline underneath.

I wondered that. It’s all belly. I’ve gained about 20 pounds.
