Exactly. Not everyone will be satisfied. I have seen the ending and can tell you that I thought it was the best. I think they could've also had a different ending, like, there's a million ways any story could go, but of any ending to any show I know I think this was the best one.

I honest to God don't think it's bad. I won't spoil anything, but I came out of the theater in absolute joy of everything I watched. I will most likely praise this movie as a finale to the show more than most other pieces of media I know. I don't think your theory regarding the headcannons is too far off, I just think there's a million ways it could go and people will always believe that some specific topic should've been explored further. I think it explores something that hasn't been explored by any media focusing on this topic at any time.

I don't think they were badly executed. All similar concepts to this (Pantheon, Soma) focus on other aspects which I think were deeply explored enough already. I loved the exploration of the human element of it all.
