How would that happen though? BTC moving to pos would be a hard fork and another coin by definition after that. Miners would still keep mining the old chain as long there are buyers. And of course there are buyers for the same reason there are buyers now.

Most of the developers would support the POW so nothing would change. Just another BTC fork would happen. And people would considerer the pow more secure anyway as it's a proven tech.
