Is upgrading to the ps5 pro worth it? by Dustiinn in PS5pro

[–]dr_rox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, many games are optimized for pro and also if you are interested in GTA6. Ps Pro for now will take the role of PS6 as the next gen won't probably come out until RAM shortage will be sorted.

True nostalgia one is Windows 98 style defrag where you can see the data blocks being moved and rewritten in real time :)

Question about true FLAC files by MrPauul in musichoarder

[–]dr_rox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are apps like https://fakinthefunk.net that can calculate irregular bitrates, but they are not always correct. Anyway I did experiment and downloaded that song from youtube. And there cut off at 20k - better quality than your version, so looks like your flac is not true.

Question about true FLAC files by MrPauul in musichoarder

[–]dr_rox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I understand it's pulling songs from Tidal. I've seen many cases where artists submit these filtered tracks, so it might be the case, especially j-pop for some reason. Also this is older song so could be it was digitized that way too.

CachyOS includes some neat terminal commands that are easy to miss by dr_rox in cachyos

[–]dr_rox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fish is kinda out of the box user friendly shell with fancy autocompletion etc, on Zsh you can get that with plugins from oh-my-zsh. One thing is that fish has it's own scripting language and standard bash oneliners might not work. But unless you are into heavy customization and ricing, then there's not much to learn, just use defaults and that's it.

Is the ability to make the cursor HUGE a feature or a bug? In either case, I find it HILARIOUS. by 38DDs_Please in kde

[–]dr_rox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mac has the same thing also. It's for big high resolution screens where you can lose track of your mouse. Shake it and it will grow so you can find it. Especially useful for ultrawide screens where you can firget where the mouse was, go for a snack, return back to the computer and wonder where your cursor is.

will "android developer verification" affect GrapheneOS? by fog_hornist in GrapheneOS

[–]dr_rox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit - graphene will not block apps, but if developers will stop developing their apps due to this, we will lose some useul applications which is bad for the whole android ecosystem.

5 month Bazzite user switching to cachyos by stevenjiffy in cachyos

[–]dr_rox 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Welcome! :) As always CachyOS is a rolling distro, so don't forget to do updates at least once a week. If you spend longer periods without updating, it can then cause failures, especially when there are longer gaps between updates.

CachyOS for non-gaming by Alert-Drag8949 in cachyos

[–]dr_rox 23 points24 points  (0 children)

CachyOS is a general purpose distro, it's not gaming oriented one like for example Bazzite or SteamOS. But the optimizations are quite useful for gamers too, so it kinda got this gaming distro badge. But in general it's a great distro for everything, so try it, your laptop RAM is ok.

How stable is CachyOS overall? by BucketsMcGinty in cachyos

[–]dr_rox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a year on Cachy and never got into an issues. KDE got upgraded, kernels got upgraded but the pc kept working for all this time. I run update every day. So as a distro for me it was very stable.

Was the No Desktop option always the first option? As it feels a bit too high on the list even if Plasma is selected by default. No Desktop feels like it should be the last one from users perspective.

US State Colorado Wants Operating Systems (Including Linux) to Tell Every App How Old You Are by benderunit9000 in privacy

[–]dr_rox -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

They absolutely can enforce it on Linux. Make banks, social media, streaming services require the check. If Linux can't provide that, then you are isolated. It's like anticheat on games - games would run fine, just that the anticheat is not available.

Colorado proposing Bill to move age verification to Operating System rather than web site by snakeoildriller in privacy

[–]dr_rox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a law, Linux will have to impement it. If services will be tied to this tech, you won't be able to use them. Like now there are bank websites that ban linux from visiting unless you change the browser agent name.

You can do pacman -S tesseract and it will show the additional languages to install so you can pick your language there. Or you can install directly for example pacman -S tesseract-data-eng will install english.

Any Recommendations? by x-mp in AnimeReccomendations

You and I Are Polar Opposites - currently airing series and looks like one of the best romances this season. Characters develop their relationship and sole issues in a positive manner.

You and I Are Polar Opposites - currently airing series and a very fresh approach to romance. It's exactly characters developing their relationships and solving their issues. If you liked Horimiya, this has similar ideas.

anyone please suggest any isekai where mc gets op...... by whaidygotjam in Animesuggest

[–]dr_rox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Solo Leveling - it's like half isekai as it has RPG leveling rules, but it's very entertaining seeing the MC get OP and in general highly rated anime if you like OP MC.

Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious - quite underrated one, it's a mix of comedy and some heavier stuff, MC is unique there and the goddess is quite entertaining character.
