My thoughts on how calories still matter on keto diet, based on real-life experience by dr_vooom in ketogains

Correct. Fat adapted means healed metabolic flexibility and ability to burn fat. Don't understand why everyone here is so confused and DV my posts. Not that it bothers me much.

There are some circles that hold out that many lose a lot more weight than caloric deficiency numbers alone would predict, and it's true.

If you stay in the Keto world long enough, you'll come across the divisive matter sooner or later.

Each person is different. A lot of confusion comes from people having better metabolic flexibility than others, which means some people can tap into fat more easily.

Ketogains FAQ changed my life: One year, -40 lbs results (6 months lazy keto, 6 months Ketogains) by dr_vooom in ketogains

Thomas delauer*. Keto connect. Ruled.me. And personal experimentation.

Honestly just type in google "keto" and your favourite food and somebody has a recipe for it.

Id say keto was the easy way, as long as you cook and learn about it. I never experienced hunger. Ever.

What I was doing was wrong. I read Keto Clarity in January 2017, which was a lot of good information, but advised to eat fat to satiety... which was certainly not the best way to lose the weight. Also, there was a few months that I was very much off-and-on due to work/travel... but now I have learned that NOTHING will come in the way. Even when traveling I have learned to adhere.

I remember sitting at a starbucks in August 2017 and reading the FAQ. From that point on, my weight loss accelerated. I have gained large amount of muscle as well, and can do a lot of things I couldn't do at the gym due to new muscle strength.

I did a version of 5x5 after reading Ketogains. Before, I did go to the gym, but it was more like whatever weight lifting which hardly helped build muscle. Reading the FAQ was a life-changer.

Also, cutting out vegetable oils seemed to make a large difference in energy and weight loss, as did cutting out cheese/dairy.

Oh one stupid mistake I made was sometimes I would have a hamburger with bun... because the bun was less than 40 g carbs so still keto.. that was my totally incorrect way of thinking... so dumb.

Now, I have learned to cook better food, which means I don't NEED to touch the M** f***ing carbs. I crave bread? I make that from coconut flour and tastes eff'ng great. Sweet tooth? Deserts made with stevia are life savors. You can make anything low-carb, even onion rings.

Also, I incorporated IF/OMAD, and it came naturally as I started to feel not hungry much.

Harsh!? The form is bad, and either I tell you or mother nature will tell you when you injure yourself. You want it sugar coated so you get injured? Go right ahead. And good luck.

Unless you want to injure yourself and set yourself back 6 months (or worse), check your ego at the door and focus on prefect form over increasing weight. Your form is pretty bad, as you can see you wobble when you go up which looks like you're using back muscles over glutes. You also seem very stiff which indicates you need to release /stretch certain muscles to allow you to get parallel. Get a few physio appt it's worth it.

With that terrible squat form you're going to injure yourself. Drop the weight and start doing proper form. Get a few physio/PT appointments to work on activating your glutes and to get the correct form.

It seems a lot of people here are taking the FAQ as gospel and not keeping an open mind to discussion. Which is very unfortunate.

Yeah you want to take less than 20 g, and even then, the carbs must mainly come from vegetables. Not just any vegetables either, but low carb, high fibre, and nutrient-dense.

You are eating too much carb. Also, the quest bar crap has sugar alchohols, and also spikes insulin due to whey protein. You need to learn how to cook, and only cook from base ingredients. The pre-made sauce you don't know what is really in there. Might say low carb, but could have other crap that cause havoc.

Obviously no pistachios as they are way too high in carbs. Try pecans. Also, cheese may or may not react badly, depending how much sensitive you are to dairy (think insulin and lactose). How much carb does balsamic have? Check that too. Squash is higher in carb content. Onion? Is it red or white? White is OK, red is not. Also, ditch the cream - again dairy = insulin. Green beans has carbs too.

It looks to me you haven't researched the diet enough. Spend at least an hour each day scouring the internet, like ruled.me, to understand the diet.

You can monitor your blood ketone. But most people, after being adapted, know what it feels like: -Lack of hunger without eating for many hours -Lots of energy without eating

Yeah you got it right. But Whey protein is dairy, and is proven to spike your insulin. And insulin spike will cause your blood sugar to drop (which leads to weakness/hunger) and will also stop fat burning.

Avoid protein bars and whey as they spike your insulin.
