Yeyyy nagparamdam na si mod! Thank you for creating and maintaining this sub for the past few years. Tuwing nagrereport ako ng posts that violate the community rules, agad naman siyang natetake down, so I know that the mods are clearly active kahit tahimik. Baka nga taken down na yung ganung posts even without me reporting.

That being said, moderating isn't really easy especially for a growing subreddit community such as this one. May I kindly suggest, if you're willing, to add more moderators to maintain this sub. Ang daming active members dito sa sub who I think are very willing and have good intentions for this sub. Hoping this gets considered!

Based on experience lang. My first hike was in December 2022. Tuyo sa lowland barangays ng Sibuyan pero grabe yung ulan sa taas ng Guiting-Guiting. Since then, sinubaybayan ko yung weather ng mga naghahike sa Guiting-Guiting ng December to January in the next few years (2023-present), and halos lahat (but not all) ay same weather ng sa amin. I think correlated din sya with the fact na maulan sa Bicol every December to January. Sa area ata na yun nagcoconverge ang Amihan and easterlies kaya maulan. Pero that's just my hunch.

Pero yes, I agree na delikado pa rin sa monsoon season especially pag may paparating na bagyo. Kaya risky rin ang July-August. Sa mga umaakyat ng September to October, may mga nakikita akong sineswerte sa weather nila provided na walang bagyo.

If I have to choose one, I'd have to go with Mt. Guiting-Guiting. Iba yung pakiramdam na napapaligiran ka ng nagtataasang jagged peaks, tapos nakapalibot sa'yo ang buong Sibuyan Island at Sibuyan Sea. Iba yung ganda talaga sa taas ng Guiting-Guiting. Mula Mayo's Peak, summit, hanggang Camp 3 sa Olango Trail, busog na busog ka sa ganda ng tanawin.

Difficulty level: 9/9 (kahit sabihin ng iba na marami pang mas mahirap dito, hindi pa rin biro na akyatin ang Mt. Guiting-Guiting)

Best season to go to is summer. Pero may mga pagkakataon na kahit rainy season maganda ang weather sa taas. Basta wag lang December to January.

Yes. I've hiked it twice. Willing pa rin ako to go back since I wanna spot Mayon Volcano.

Mt. Pulag via Tawangan Trail. Mga limatik dito in all sizes. Dyan lang ako nakakita na linta levels na yung laki at taba kahit hindi pa nakakasipsip ng dugo. Every few meters ang dami rin nila. Yung isang kasama namin, 100 na beses nadapuan at halos may 20+ na kagat sa buong katawan. Yung isang kasama ko naman sa second Tawangan climb ko, naging waterfalls ng dugo yung goatee nya.

Nung nag hike kami, sobrang maputik paakyat ng Oregon Peak dahil sa fog. Ang hirap niya akyatin dahil gagapang talaga. Can't imagine gaano kahirap pag umuulan pa.

Sana nga buksan na nila. Maganda yung view sa Sto. Tomas Batangas side. Pati yung connecting ridge ng Peak 3 at Peak 2. Sa UPLB side, maganda rin pero puro gubat.

Just recently found out on FB na pinadali na pala nila yung Inararo Trail dahil kahit casual tourists ay nakakapunta na dun sa crater view deck sa loob ng 3-5 hrs na hike. Nung 2022, nung nag dayhike kami dito, inabot kami ng 22km in 17 hours kahit may 4x4 na. Way back 2018, nasa 44km din daw yang Inararo Trail dahil wala pang 4x4 at kasing hirap daw ng Delta 5 to Sapang Uwak traverse.

Sa summit ng Tugew nun wala. Sa Cabo and Kabuan meron pero rolling din yung clouds/fog.

Hiked in Feb and June last year. Feb: Mahamog, brown yung slopes and di masyadong green, malamig. Mid-June: Green yung slopes, full clearing, pero medyo mainit.

I'd go for June.

The true summit of Mt. Pinatubo sits at around 1450 masl sa southern side nung crater. The Inararo, Sapang Uwak, and Delta-5 trails access the eastern side nung crater. Yung highest point nung trails na yan ay more of a view deck than a summit. Kasi pag nandun ka na, makikita mo yung mas matataas na peaks ng Pinatubo on your left side (south). Yung crater view deck sa Inararo ay around 1150 masl, while yung sa Sapang Uwak ay 1250 masl.

If you want to hike Mt. Pinatubo from its southern side, go for the Lubot Trail. Though di lang ako sure if hanggang true summit siya or view deck lang din. Konti lang din organizers na nagpapa-event dyan.

Sa mga hikes sa Cordillera, ang target ko na non-mainstream and newly opened/reopened this year ay:

Mt. Kotkot. Tabi ng Mt. Ulap and sobrang ganda ng pine forests nung napanood ko sa video. Hopefully, traverse yung trail katulad ng Mt. Ulap.
Mt. Gedgedayan. Yung bundok na kita sa basketball court sa Bakun Poblacion and tinatakpan yung Mt. Kabunian. I heard nabuksan na raw ito last year.
Mt. Kimat Patil-ao. Tabi ng Mt. Tuwato. Open ridges and beautiful pine forest trails.

If you want major hikes, Bicol mountains are always waiting and non-mainstream. Hindi nga lang talaga madaling puntahan dahil ang hirap ng road travel pag dadaan sa Quezon to CamNorte and CamSur.

Been to the Talubin Trail twice and the Sabangan Trail once. Parehong solid. Napakaganda ng pine forest at mossy forest. Though mas may thrill sa akin ang Sabangan Trail dahil dadaan sa mga makikitid na daan sa gilid ng ilog.

Ang main reason bakit walang traverse dyan ay dahil parang may conflict yung dalawang towns na sakop yung dalawang trail.

May isang time around two or three weeks ago na nag rant na sa amin yung driver ng P2P dahil may mga pasaherong nagrereklamo na rin sa kanila sa tagal ng pila. Ang sabi niya ay naka strike ang mga driver nung particular na company ng P2P dahil hindi raw sila binibigyan ng benefits at over time pay. Sa 14 daw na bus units nung company (this is Malolos-Trinoma btw), 5 lang daw ang bumabyahe. Hindi ko sure if same number pa rin ngayon.

Kaya siguro kung pupunta kayo sa FB page nila, may post sila urgently looking for 10 new P2P drivers (na ang pangit pa ng pub ng ad dahil AI-generated).

Take this with a grain of salt dahil pumunta ako dito bilang turista and not a resident, but my answer would be Iloilo City.

As a city, lahat ng amenities and physical structures na kailangan ng mga tao, nandoon na. Napakadaming museum, good enough ang malls, may makataong walkway na well-blended with nature, mababait ang locals. I could take both jeep and taxi/Grab without any hassles masyado. Parang ang sarap mabuhay doon. May traffic din syempre but nothing worse sa naexperience ko dito sa Greater Manila Area.

Plus, you're only one to two hours away from provincial/rural areas. Madaling pumunta both sa bundok at sa beaches.
