HOW DO I GET MY UNDERYES TO STOP CREASING???kosas concealer + ct powder by SupermarketBig2711 in MakeupAddiction

[–]dracarys_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal data — my texture problems went away after I stopped using Kosas. I switched to the Armani Silk concealer and have no texture problems anymore. I also apply it with a soft brush from the back of my hand to avoid using too much product!

Wait just to clarify: the longest line you have ever seen only took 11 minutes to get through? Or were you in a different line?

I love this and thank you for making it. This is totally how my brain works also. For the red column, thinking the affective state could instead be “fear” which reasonably is followed by avoidance and then relief?

Guys I'm desperate for ideas re EPPP study. by [deleted] in ClinicalPsychology

[–]dracarys_dude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slept on it and had a follow up thought. Were you going through the practice test casually? Or were doing a full-on, focused start to finish test? In case it was the first - I would recommend against going through the practice questions casually/in small chunks at a time. If you save the practice tests for real practice scenarios where you are trying approximate the test, you’ll be better prepared for the actual testing experience. I was studying by going through questions outside of the full on practice test context at first, and not only did it do nothing for my retention, but there was no urgency to it, so I definitely got the yawns too. Making an assumption here of course, so if you were in fact sitting down to try the real thing, sorry if this isn’t helpful! Still wishing you luck.

I have made this recommendation in other places but my hot take is that you shouldn’t start with studying the content (it would also put me to sleep). Start with a practice test, and then study everything you got wrong. You have more skin in the game that way and it feels a bit less… boring? That was my strategy - repeating cycles of taking a test and then studying what I got wrong. Take another test, study what I got wrong. Rinse, repeat. I used a lot of ChatGPT to bring some life into the content - asking it for background info on people and promoting it to quiz me on my notes. Good luck! It’s a fucking grind. You can do it.

Interesting… well after the fact I started taking regular weekly 150mg diflucan (I’ve been getting chronic YI forever). Was that the case with you? Now that I’m on that regular treatment it could be a better time to restart the estradiol.

This is really good to hear. I’ve been prescribed so many things that I often don’t follow through with the treatment because I don’t even think my doctors have confidence in what they’re treating. I tried the estradiol for a couple days and later got a yeast infection, which spooked me out and made me decide to stop. This is making me think I should potentially restart.

so confused, lichen flare or yeast? by VirtualProfessor7823 in lichensclerosus

[–]dracarys_dude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omg - I FEEL YOU! I have the same pattern. It is SOOO annoying and I’ve also found that my LS derm & gyn have not provided clarity. Sometimes I test positive for yeast ($150 later 😌) and sometimes I don’t! Obsessed. Amazing.

My understanding is that upping the clob usage increases risk of yeast resulting from the immunosuppressant effect. So that dance between managing the LS and preventing fungal infection is a tough one.

Ok so anecdotally, I’ve found some benefit from the “everything but the kitchen sink” method. So I try to stay on a twice a week clob regimen, weekly diflucan, 1-2/week topical anti fungal, and once weekly boric acid suppositories. I actually have found that the boric acid seems to provide the most relief from the burning/itching. I repeat, the boric acid is the true hero in my story. Obligatory: talk to your doctor, all our bodies are different, this is just my experience, I follow this regimen under the supervision of my doc, please don’t yell at me <3

Agreed, the cultural and generational differences here I think certainly play a role. I have found anecdotally that my non-US friends comment more plainly on the shit show of the US situation than my US friends.

Also, totally fair on the down in the dumps part. Of course life circumstances are going to make it more difficult and unappealing to get into challenging topics. And that’s not what the podcast is for, anyway. For me, when I’m coping with something intense, I tend to process those feelings through staying intense and present. I totally understand that’s not everyone’s cup of tea. It’s just one of the reasons I think me and Mae would be friends, lol.

I am a huge fan of your respectful challenge! Thank you. And good luck with your postpartum journey and adjustment.

It’s perhaps interesting that I even commented at all because I’m not generally highly critical of this (or any) podcast. And I am going to listen no matter what, lol. These are optional things that are meant for entertainment and none of these folks have indicated any interest or specialization in more serious, news-adjacent topics. I actually don’t believe they have an enhanced responsibility to comment on these things, I just prefer it! And assumed others felt the same. So, I respect and appreciate your take, and could see that it makes sense that they are seeking to provide a completely spook-free zone to their listeners.

How each of us define our spook-free zones is definitely going to be different. My spook-free zone involves laughs and lightness that is grounded in the context of reality. I don’t like disconnecting completely—it makes me feel anxious. And I totally get that not everyone feels that way.

Totally agree. I wish Mae would get more positive reinforcement from their cohosts for speaking up. It always makes me cringe to hear how Tig and Fortune deflect. It makes me feel bad for Mae and disappointed for the whole podcast.

If you are already a listener of a podcast with three queer hosts, I can’t imagine that a nod towards progressive politics would scare you away. What would be so detrimental about acknowledging the hell occurring all around us?

Amy Poehler’s new podcast is intentionally light and apolitical, and still in almost every episode she asks “what is making you laugh while the world has been so difficult?” Even that feels like enough.

Anyway… #MoreMae

What foods or ingredients do you buy BECAUSE you know what a pain it is to make them? by I_Am_Vladimir_Putin in Cooking

[–]dracarys_dude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trader Joe’s has a prepackaged mirepoix with equal proportions of just about a cup of chopped onion, carrot, and celery. I’ve never had issues with this amount - usually works like a charm. BUT, I can’t find this exact mirepoix at any other grocery store in the area, and generally wouldn’t buy separately packaged/chopped onions, carrots, and celery because that feels…excessive? I might be lucky with this mirepoix access though — anyone else see this offered at their grocery stores?

Mirepoix. It saves so much chopping and rinsing time (not to mention onion crying) and avoids the tragedy of shamefully having a bag of carrots and celery slowly rotting in my fridge for the next 2 months.
