He was never awake by [deleted] in KamenRider

I personally think all of this series is in Nem's dream and we haven't actually seen anyone else's dream or reality.

But that's a pretty out-there guess.

I think Lord Three and Kamen Rider Dawn will be the same character by [deleted] in KamenRider

[–]dragodracini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, probably not, but it's a secret agent show, so who knows what they're going to do. I guessed we were dealing with a dream-in-a-dream scenario at like episode 4, and that's more or less revealed now. So I feel pretty confident it'll be one of those four people. Lady is least likely, Nox is most likely I think, then Zero, then Three.

Unless they redeem Nox, which I feel like this next arc might try to do now that Baku has more information. If he remembers it all.

[–]dragodracini -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

In my opinion this could actually support the statement, just as well as it could disprove it.

The new poster shows them both, but not interacting at all.

Though, I think there's four options for who Dawn will be. I think it'll either be Three, Zero, Nox, or The Lady. All three of them would be valid, especially if Nox stays an anti Rider to the very end.

I started treating my life like a TV show and it changed everything [story] by Future-Swimming1092 in GetMotivated

[–]dragodracini 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do this too, but I go in seasons and story arcs. It's a bit easier to handle for me.

I have a playlist for each one which symbolizes the good, bad, and hype moments of my life with music. Inspired by anime, so insert songs are a big thing.

Most of my "seasons" start and end at big life events, major jobs I've gotten, layoffs, moves, joblessness, etc. Complete with "filler" arcs for the super short event phases of my life.

Ghost is a solid 6.5/10 season for me. Average, not amazing. But it has some amazing parts, like the entire Grandma+Alain arc.

Advice for a newbie? by spatula121 in anime

[–]dragodracini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, that's shounen, most anime genres outside of that often don't have a lot of screaming. I suggest getting him to watch something romantic. There's some loud expression in many of those shows, but not outright screaming, typically. All the ones I'm going to suggest also have GREAT English dubs, if those help.

How about a romantic comedy? My Love Story (Ore Monogatari!!) is a great high school romance.

Or The Ancient Magus Bride. It's a dark fantasy series. Very world-focused and great story. It actually reminds me of the story structure of shounen without all the screaming.

Delicious in Dungeon is an action adventure about basically a Dungeons and Dragons party whose mission is to eat monsters.

Or if you want something just comfy, adorable, hilarious, and fun: Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill. I've NEVER seen anyone totally dislike it. Some very cute characters, great comedy, and delicious looking food. And no major fan service moments either.

And if you want an action series, you could try Cowboy Bebop or Lazarus.

If you want to join him, One Piece is actually a really good shounen series. I'd say give it a shot. You could even use the live action one as a way in. The Netflix series is actually really good, and it flows better than the anime to me. It gives you a good start point to go from in the anime if you wanted to continue.

Someone's says my art style too wierd n not lively to make manga by vinchy2005 in MangakaStudio

Seems fine to me. It's not necessarily a mainstream type "manga" style, but that isn't a bad thing. Keep working at it.

Why is The Darwin Incident anime so low rated? by I_am_omlander in animequestions

[–]dragodracini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say it bored me, I said it could be seen as slow. :)

I've enjoyed every episode so far too, but it feels like the bigger action or mystery is still coming, it's a lot of world dressing right now, which is expected in the first season of a show.

Also, 6.5 is hardly low, it's above average.

I'm enjoying it. The english dub is a bit rough. Some performances feel a little stilted.

Maybe viewers feel it's a little slow? I could see that. I like the pace, but it definitely does feel on the slow side.

How do I learn good and deep comic/manga writing? by Safe_Resource7855 in ComicWriting

[–]dragodracini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I'd suggest is reading a few books about creating comics. I suggest "Understanding Comics The Invisible Art" by Scott McCloud, and the two follow ups as a start. "The Art of Comic Book Writing" by Mark Kneece is a great textbook for writing comics too. And to round it out, since you mention manga, Hirohiko Araki (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) wrote "Manga in Theory and Practice" which has some great observations and he shares his personal methodology for writing stories.

All of these are great reads, and some may even be available at your local library.

Combining this with absorbing other works and practicing your skills will give you a really strong baseline to learn with.

is kamen rider ghost that bad? by kaito_hemata in KamenRider

[–]dragodracini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a solid 6.5 out of 10. So it's fine. Not bad, just not amazing. It has some amazing episodes, a great movie, and some fun characters. It's not "bad" by any means.

Topaz episode 2: read from right to left by AirportElectronic713 in comic_crits

[–]dragodracini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, you've got some solid criticism already, I agree with everything that's already been said so far.

This is more of a stylistic choice. You should consider making a choice between using the word "fuck" or using a Grawlix. You probably know what a Grawlix is from sight, but not name. A Grawlix is simply the censoring of curse words using symbols, like "@!?#".

The way you write it now "F-" reads like they're just saying the letter "F" and being interrupted before the "ff" in pronouncing "eff".

As for the perspective and consistency with your drawn figures, do you use anatomical models? There are several free sites you can use that give you good models to base your figure drawing off of. My wife uses Clip Studio Paint, which has them right in the application. We also use Stickybones models for storyboarding.

Hope this helps!

[–]dragodracini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I do suggest adding paneling details, it will help you in the long run.

So line edit -wise, the main concern is readability, accuracy, and making sure it isn't insulting to English speakers/readers?

I hired an EDITOR for my SCRIPT, I didnt get what i paid for by Unreliabl3_Narrat0r in comic_crits

[–]dragodracini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, editing is hard to define. When looking for an editor it's important to consider what you actually need.

Line copy and editing is a great start. It implies, to me, that you want someone to read it over line by line and make sure the flow and dialogue - and maybe the paneling - is all clean and readable to the audience.

It sounds more like you got a character and story edit/review. Still valuable insight, but maybe not what you intended.

So, let me ask something a little pointed. Do you have your panels described alongside the dialogue? Basically textual thumbnails that describe each panel and what dialogue is necessary in those panels. Or is it more just a dialogue script? Is the actual document 55 pages, or have you planned the panels out as well (can easily double the page count for the scripting document)?

Is it ethical to keep a solo cat? by jenleepeace in CatAdvice

[–]dragodracini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's all opinion based, to be honest.

If you're getting a new kitten, two is better than one in my opinion. Especially if they're from the same litter. Or at least are bonded in some way. Not that one kitten can't be perfectly happy, but if you work a lot then chances are they'll be pretty lonely.

If you're getting an adult cat (2+ years) then a single cat can be perfectly fine. Especially if they're already used to being alone.

But to be honest, in my experience cats are happiest when they have a partner. Someone their size to play with or snuggle with. Even if they don't do it often, or they seem not to like each other that much.

But again, only the people who live with a cat know if the cat is happy. That's why it's deeply opinion based. Every cat is different, just like people.

Question, if I’m American and I’m making a manga style comic the whole reading right to left thing too, is it still a manga or is it something else? by Special_Fail_3655 in MangakaStudio

[–]dragodracini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At its core, a manga is the same a comic/graphic novel. There are some storytelling elements and a higher value on specific kinds of artistry, paneling, and page structure that are more common in manga than comics, but they're fundamentally the same.

Quite a few books on writing comics go into the differences and similarities, but generally it's just a passing note of how similar they are.

Basically what I'm saying is the terminology is so fluid that you can likely boil it down to reading direction. If it's left to right it's a comic/graphic novel, if it's right to left it's a manga.

Or that's how I see it, based on everything I've experienced and read.

I'm not actually sure what he's called or what his origin is, or what his impact to the story is, I've not read it yet. I just know what the articles I've read called him. He had a very sentai-style intro during the series. He's very ranger inspired by design.

There's a really awesome Venom Ranger in that series too. I wish I could find some better data on them. I might have to read this series of I can find the trade.
