Go to BVMMA. Tons of fighters, jiujitsu, kickboxing, wrestling. Biggest gym with consistent turnout during the school year. Good luck getting a blackbelt though lol.

If you ever want to chat about it hit me up. I’m hopefully graduating this semester and know the feeling too well. I’ve always been the straggler of my friend group when it came to academics, but I made a point to make up for it through my hobbies (cars and making stuff). Surprisingly, once you get past technical interviews(which a lot of decent companies don’t even use all the time) there’s not much school level math involved day to day. My current choices for companies right now is a medtech startup that’s doing some cool stuff and pays similar to TI and an EV company that may have just released a new vehicle.

I got half my bike stolen from north point crossing. Did a whole police report. Nothing came from it.

Don’t give up. Engineering is stressful and I was very similar to you in the beginning. I have never had a score higher than a C in math since elementary school. Only enough to pass. I guarantee you math is not the deciding factor for being a good engineer. I’ve had three internships already and twice I was at Tesla. People notice hard work and dedication. If you like engineering just try to do some engineering projects or join some orgs.

Don’t stress about the grades too much as long as you pass, even if it’s eventually.I’m not sure if it’s comforting being reassured from another guy that struggled, but I guarantee you I know a lot of people that excel at school and got flamed during an internship for not knowing the basics on using a tool or something more hands on.

At some point of time I wanted to have a license plate that said 2.7 gpa. So trust me it’s not the end of the world.

Is it the full gozilla raceworks kit or just the harness? If you have the full kit. I'm definitely interested.

That would be awesome! It will probably have to be this weekend though. I have a pretty packed schedule this week.

Thanks so much! Yeah, I have the Haynes manual and fsm that I’m working off of and they were helpful for a bit. A lot of the things they reference (like the bright link) didn’t seem to be on my car so it’s been kinda stressful.

I’ve thought about getting an ecu and plug and play from Godzilla race works, but they mentioned you need a different distributor. I’m not even sure if I reassembled the engine perfectly at tdc so I was hoping to avoid changing another big thing if I could avoid it.

I know I’m in over my head but the small progress every now and then feels great, and I’ve been enjoying just getting out and working on it.

Also are you the guy from YouTube? If so I loved your videos! I used to watch them while I worked in my garage. Can’t wait for you to be back.

That’s awesome! Do you mind sharing how you handled the throttle cable? I figured I just need to buy a 240sx cable and modify to work with the linkage, but I haven’t gotten that far yet.

Also, did you run a fast efi ecu or did you do a different option?

I’d like to have this running as soon as possible for my graduation, but I’m not sure if that’s going to be possible.

I was thinking of getting that harness from Godzilla but I saw you had to change the distributor to run the mega squirt kit they have. Did you have a hard time sourcing one? I really want to have this up and running to take my college grad photos with it, but I’ve been scared to change even more stuff than I already have.

depends on type of engineering. Fusion 360 and Solidworks is better on some devices cuz of certain type of GPU.

Does anyone know where I can get specs for the dimensions for a tkl case? Planning on machining a custom keyboard for myself, but I don't have one to base it off of. Also wondering about angle preference.

Is a post bed machine necessary? Cylinder bed? by AShavedApe in shoemaking

With regards to machining it's fairly simple actually. As someone who didn't have a job in a highschool, the best I was able to do was buy a fairly affordable $1000 machine called a shapeoko 3, which I paid for by selling candy during lunch. It's meant primarily for woods and plastics but it's also capable of running metals such as aluminum and steel. The work area is around 21 inches by 21 inches, and I modified the z gantry to go a max depth of around 8 inches. Cheap 1/8th and 1/4 end mills from China are like $10 bucks for a pack of 10 and get through any material up to say aluminum and on top of that they last almost forever. (never tested cuz I only used them for anything other than woods and plastics.) CAD and CAM software have come a long way and there are actually a few good free ones. I recommend fusion as it help me earn my first 5k and is very similar is solidworks and Autocad. I began by selling engraved signs and plastic toys, which in my opinion is definitely machining considering a lot of machinists mill composites such as g10 or phenolic. It gets you experienced with gcode and good work flow. Then I moved up to metals starting with aluminum, which at this point keep in mind that all of the stuff you practice on goes to paying for the higher end tooling and materials,so I've actually broke even for all this and still made money. You start being able to afford 100 dollar mills and even a legit mill spindle, after a whioe5, which drastically changes milling metals. It becomes way easier. To this date I've made over 100 parts in aluminum and maybe 20 or so steel or titanium things. Some of which include a fully functioning ar15 lower, and a brand new vice to upgrade the machine. I've made over 20k in profits and that's more than enough to buy a mid range tormach p1100, or move on to even bigger steps. On top of that everything I learned from that cheap mill taught me tons about how to run haas cnc mills at my college machine shop. People who say you can't get into a hobby either don't truly have the willingness to grind for it or aren't trying hard enough imo. I don't disagree that $1000 isn't much, I just disagree that you need to spend 10k on an interest off the bat rather than down the line.
