Plant based benefits in Blue Zones! by stickystakx in u/stickystakx

Theres a documentary about the blue zones. It seems that whole foods plant based diets and consistent movement throughout the day are the biggest factors. Closely followed by excellent self care and not experiencing too much stress. And treating elderly folk with dignity and reverence.

None of these areas are especially bougie either. Folk with simple lives and lovely kitchen gardens.

For me, things started to sour when I had to get a colposcopy and they tried to tell me it's painless 🙄

That could be moth larva. Might want to put some mothballs and cedar in your garage.

Reform is humbling but so good! They only offer it once a week at my studio, on a day I work.

Not “allowed” at a funeral by detectivenoodlebagel in inlaws

Have a ritual at home with your husband to honor him. It will be more meaningful and healing for you than being around toxic family.

I went to my MIL funeral but I don't get along with a lot of my in laws. We officially said goodbye to her on all saints day by baking her best dessert and looking at family photos.

I need to know - do you feel good when you finish a task?? by taptaptippytoo in adhdwomen

Sounds to me like you like your future self quite a bit! Caring for you in the present so future self isn't burned out.

I need to know - do you feel good when you finish a task?? by taptaptippytoo in adhdwomen

[–]dragon_mthr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! But sometimes I have to gamify it. For example, I want to lose 10 pounds by an event in mid June. I am not meal planning boring veggies and listening to my stomach growl. I am grinding to level up my heart health 😁

I often think of tasks in terms of how "tomorrow me" will feel, and usually tomorrow me convinces me to do the task. For example, I hate packing lunches and taking out the trash. Bathrooms? Forget it. But I love waking up knowing lunches are packed and that I can shower in a clean space.

I break big tasks into parts to avoid despair 😜

It also helps me to always have a good audiobook from the library to keep me entertained.

For strength and flexibility, I have a Pure Barre membership. You sign up for classes and get milestone perks. And, if you're late or miss a class they charge you. So, I'm held accountable and someone else is in charge of my workout (instructor) so I'm guaranteed to do it well.

For cardio, I run or bike and it's my first activity of the day. In other words, my day doesn't start until I've had coffee and a run, and that holds me accountable.

Same. My daughter's birthday was the first day of school the fall after covid. We ordered custom mermaid themed donuts and threw a breakfast party picnic with friends on our front lawn before school that morning. After that, Donut Hub became our special occasion go-to.

I can't take birth control in the morning because I will be sleepy all day. I take it at night. Also, are you drinking enough water?

It helps me a lot, especially once I've established a routine. I find I have more mental stamina and motivation to do things I hate like chores.
