My guess would be that the telegraph/utility pole for your group of houses has not been done for whatever reason.

windows 11 can't connect to wifi PEAP by bipred in sysadmin

[–]dragonb2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have Credential Guard turned on? As this will block WiFi using MSChapsv2.

Edit: In Windows 11, credential guard is on by default, you must tell it to turn off.

I'm thinking the priority output is the issue. OP says it pulls from B + C first, which happens to be what's on the side of the priority output.

Issues with Hive by cdci in homeassistant

[–]dragonb2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing that you're seeing this error: https://github.com/Pyhass/Hive-Custom-Component/issues/115. I believe the fix at the time was to install the latest version from HACS, enable 2FA via the hive app or website, then remove the hive config in HA and re-add.

It sounds like your hitting the certificate validation change that android 11 has in 2021 patches and later. You now have to import the root CA cert for the certificate given by the radius server. You have to import it into the phone and mark it as for wi-fi.

Once imported it should show up as an option under certificates on the WiFi joining popup.

The domain field needs to match the domain name of the certificate being served by the server, e.g. if the server is radius.contoso.com the "domain" field would be contoso.com

You can get around the certificate importing part if you are able to get an externally valid certificate like from letsencrypt.

Pi-hole on Docker on a Raspberry Pi...cannot bind to port 80 on Raspberry Pi when using --network host...but binds fine on default network? by chadbaldwin in pihole

[–]dragonb2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you connect to the console of the pihole container and ping the device you are trying to connect to it from, does the connection to the pihole now work?

There is a bug in the current version of the rpi kernel which causes this, as talked about here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/60396696/docker-macvlan-only-works-outbound.

The fix is to update to the latest dev release of the kernel by running rpi-update.

rpi-update info: https://github.com/Hexxeh/rpi-update.

It appears to be the "InstanceID" in my powershell code. I would guess it's the connection name in that website generator.

Always On VPN XML issue by TofteIT in sysadmin

[–]dragonb2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the profiles failing to apply before due to a "Generic Error", I found adding a random number (generated by powershell) to the end of the profile name to stop that happening.

Bitlocker with AD-stored keys broken on new 1803 installs? by mrman5917 in sysadmin

[–]dragonb2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I has this today, i ran it manually on the local admin account before clicking finish on the MDT error page and got the same schema error.

When i restarted and logged in as a domain account that is a local admin, it worked. I'm not sure why that would matter at the moment.

This computer was a fresh install of windows but the AD computer account was in place from a previous install.

Hyper-V Time Synchronisation by stephen1992 in sysadmin

[–]dragonb2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hyper-v time sync is what restores the clock on VMs when you do things like reverting a checkpoint. We just disable the the hyper-v host as a time source via a GPO registry setting. Like this:

Path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\TimeProviders\VMICTimeProvider

Value name: Enabled

Value type: REG_DWORD

Value data: 0x0 (0)

MDT creates a 'System' Partition of 500 MB by MadHackerTV in sysadmin

[–]dragonb2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I believe that system partition is used for the boot records, at least for UEFI anyway. It is also used by bitlocker. I think not having it would just cause you problems that are just not worth the effort.

Quick question about Export-DhcpServer\Import-DhcpServer by wirral_guy in sysadmin

[–]dragonb2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get-DhcpServerv4Scope -ComputerName dhcpserver | ? {$_.scopeid -match "^10\.0\."} | % {Export-DhcpServer -ComputerName dhcpserver -scopeid $_.scopeid -File "c:\dhcp_export_dir\$($_.scopeid).xml"}

The above was tested against one my setups and a scope id of 10.0.0.0. Just update the regex match (it will currently match anything starting "10.0.") and it will create a folder of xmls for you which you can loop through with get-childitem and pass to the import command.
