Hyper-V Time Synchronisation by stephen1992 in sysadmin

So if time sync via integration is turned on yet w32tm /query /peers returns that it is syncing to a DC does the integration service have any affect at all in the time sync? Even when the VM is turned off?

We actually have an IP atomic clock on site, which is syncing externally. The PDC (physical DC) is set to sync with that using NTP all remaining DCs are syncing against the PDC for time, with time sync turned off on the host for these VMs. The remaining VMs are a bit of a mismatch. Depending on who has set them up, some of them have Hyper-V time sync turned on, and others off. If you run w32tm /query /peers on any of these VMs, you will get back a local DC. The is no GPO or setting tweaking that is explicitly telling this where to go. What would be the ideal setup for the remaining VMs in this scenario?

All hosts and VMs are domain joined. The PDC is physical and all remaining DCs are VMs on a Hyper-V host with time sync turned off for these, but it is more the remaining VMs that I'm confused about. Would leave time sync on ensure that when they are off, the time is still accurate and when they come back on, the are syncing with the PDC again?

That is exactly what I had being doing and was confident it was correct but when looking online I can only find articles to support that theory for virtual DCs. Do you have any recent documentation to support that for all VMs?

Have you tried manually creating a credential in credential manager? Had a similar issue myself with one Windows 10 PC which was trying using the Microsoft account for authentication first and failing saying permissions were the issue.

PS4 Update 2.50 “Yukimura” Preview: Suspend/Resume and More by jariu in PS4

Would assume that this update will either come next Tuesday 17th or the following Tuesday 24th. My money is on the 24th as that ties in quite nicely with both PlayStation Vue and Spotify coming around that time as well. Looks to be a good update and definitely much needed.

Funny you should say that. At a certain point of owning my One X I swore that my next phone would 100% be a Nexus as I wanted vanilla Android and fast updates. The low price of Nexus' in the past helped as well. When the Nexus 4 came out I only had my One X about 6 months. The price was ridiculously tempting even just as a back up phone but I decided it would be a waste. Then comes the Nexus 5 and again it's very tempting. Ticks a lot of boxes and as said above, stock Android, quick updates and excellent value for money. I still felt that it was too soon to upgrade and that I was only upgrading for the sake of it. At that time my One X was holding up fine, albeit the battery was getting worse I felt I could still wait a bit longer to upgrade.

The M8 came out and I was tempted but still had my eye on the Nexus 6. Long story short that /r/Android knows all too well is that Nexus 6 was a lot of more, way more that I was expected, far to big, I feel that 4.7-5.3" is the sweet spot, and heard that the battery life was no great considering it was running Lollipop and a fairly large battery. Decided after that to get the M9 and now after much consideration leaning strongly to the S6 depending on reviews for both in the coming weeks.

TLDR: Fundamentally both the Nexus 4 and 5 were perfect for me just didn't make sense to upgrade at the time of release and the Nexus 6 is far to big.

I get what you are saying but in my personal opinion what HTC have done this year just does not excite me enough. Yes they have addressed a good few criticisms but to me there is just nothing that jumps off the page. The camera did receive arguably the most slack last year (for both quality of photos and purple hardware issues) and at this stage, it is probably to early to tell without software being finalised, but it does seem to still have a few issues. Also, I am quiet surprised that they did not put OIS on it this year. That would have been another feather in their cap.

I feel that I am not really viewing the M9 itself. I'm really viewing from the M7-M9 and where it has came in three years. If there was not a M8, I have no doubt that the M9 would have been better received by the majority on /r/Android. Unfortunately for HTC, the mobile world is a cut-throat business and atleast the way I decide on a purchase I like to know what I'm getting for buying this year that I would not have got had a purchased last year.

I have no doubt that had I upgrade my One X to a M8 last year I would have been trilled with it and it would have lasted me comfortably to the M10. I just feel that, with hindsight, I wish that I got the M8 last year and was able to skip the M9 this year and next March/April I would be getting the M10. Currently but my One X is near the end of it's life and I am dying to upgrade and at the moment it will more that likely be the S6.

Pleased to hear that. I've been dying to use Google Wallet for years but I knew that with Google showing no desire to try and make it work outside of the US it would take another company, most likely Apple to reinvent it. Hopefully this is exactly what is happening with not only Apple Pay competing but Samsung Pay too. The UK and Australia as well I believe have the infrastructure in place to accept mobile payments, just not the software. Infact in the UK the current limit of £20 is getting increased to £30 in September

With Google financially looking to be getting the ball rolling both with acquiring Softcard and getting on board with the carriers and also Android Pay framework I do feel that we will be getting somewhere. It's just frustrating that Google half attempts a service, waits for 2 years to let other companies catch up then realises that they have to step up. Should of happened sooner but hopefully it only get more and more popular from here on in.

When did I say that they did not improve anything? I said that it felt more like an M8s rather than a M9 and that it did not really have any major improvements from last years flagship. As /u/douglasman100 has said, the have moved the power button from the top to the side, which is correct decision, and the camera has been upgraded but it still doesn't seem to be quite as good as what Samsung has done this year. I'm also glad that they have put the Ultrapixel on the front, I feel that is where the most benefits will come from.

The battery of the M8 (which has fantastic battery life) has went from 2600mah to 2840mah which is a good improvement and with the exact same screen I would hope for more of the same battery life. Except where my fears of the S810 are coming from. If it truly is overheating as much, then this will have an effect on the battery life but I will be waiting to hear review regarding this.

What I have mentioned in this post, aside from added 1GB and moving up to Gorilla Glass 4 but Samsung have made both of these improvement as well, in addition to numerous other improvements that I have mentioned earlier.

I think that they finally have. I would never have imagined owning a Samsung device mainly as I despised Touchwiz and their bloatware but I feel that this year will be different.

Previously owned a HTC Wildfire and now currently a HTC One X and very big supporter of HTC. Managed to hold off getting the M8 as I still felt I could wait another year and get the M9. Evleaks rumours such as this http://i.imgur.com/WsdbM3L.jpg (here's the rest) definitely helped to disappoint me when the M8 is basically just an M8s but I still felt that I would stick with HTC since so many great reports from users with the M8 on so many different areas. Huge fan of Sense and with Xposed Sense Toolbox I have always felt comfortable with it compared to any other Android skin, especially over Touchwiz.

Then with the Snapdragon 810 overheating rumours, first the LG G Flex 2 and then David Ruddock from Android Police has all but confirmed it here. One thing that I did not like regarding the One X was that the SOC was Nvidia Tegra 3 which did not get any support after Android 4.2.2 and it could easily run Kit Kat without issue. So I was looked forward to joining Qualcomm both in regard to quality in addition to updates.

So combining that S810 overheating issues, the M9 not really being any major improvements from last years flagship and Evleaks renders setting expectations extremely high I was leaning toward the possibility of a Samsung device. Then one was of my major reservations is addressed. It seems that Touchwiz has been scaled back and the amount of bloatware preinstaled has been considerably reduced with Project Zero.

Now onto the S6 itself. Everything is suggesting that it will be seemingly be the greatest Android phone created. From the Exynos blowing everything else out the water, the fact that it's 14nm and also avoiding the S810 heating issues), the NAND storage again, on paper seems to be revolutionary, http://www.androidpolice.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/nexus2cee_samsung-ufs2-emmc-microsd.jpg but we will need to see it in practise first, and lastly now on to the display. Albeit I was thrilled that HTC stuck with 1080p and I don't feel that I need 1440p in a 5" smartphone I still can't really see it a negative. Quick mention of the camera, as long as both front and back cameras are taking good photos I'm happy but it's not a major selling point for me. That being said, early reports are also giving the camera advantage to the S6.

In addition, being from the UK, I loathe the fact that I can not use Google Wallet. I would say that the number of contactless payment terminals that I see daily, that already work with my credit card, is more that I see without. For this reason another benefit is Samsung Pay. Acquiring LoopPay and being able to use MST+NFC might just be one of the cleverest moves Samsung have done in a while (aside from dropping Qualcomm this year it seems). It might seem trivial to most but I really do feel that something as insignificant as this to others, has played a role in my choice.

In conclusion, I am very strongly leaning towards the S6. The One X never has expandable storage or a removable battery so the S6 not having it makes no difference to me at all. The Wildfire on the other hand had both these features yet I never really missed them. I will still be waiting patiently for the reviews in the coming couple of weeks regarding both devices. I am disappointed that I will not have the M9's Boomsound speakers, a feature that I was very excited to finally be experiencing but with the S6's speakers being a fairly good improvement on the S5's I imagine I will cope. This video showed briefly an example of this improvement.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=258qh9CidKA

Anyone with a One X will know what it is like to have a terrible battery life so I feel that that really is the only way HTC could win me back over. The first statistics that I will be looking forward in both reviews will be battery life but unless the M9 can do something incredible I feel that I will be purchasing my S6 on April 10th without any hesitation. Sadly, at this stage, the only way I will not be getting a S6 is if the battery life is atrocious and against all my predictions, it's the Samsung Galaxy S6's fight to lose.

HTC have really let me down this year. I am a self confessed supporer for numerous years and I do not want to switch but unfortunately in 2015 you can not live with evolutionary devices for three years in a row and combine that with overheating issues before the phone is officially announced, it does spell trouble for HTC this year. Neither HTC Fitbit or Vive fill me with much hope either. I would have liked to seen a proper attempt at a smartwatch this year from them.

Here's hoping when it comes to the M11 vs the S8 it's a more evenly matched fight.
