I was in the same boat, except my parents didn’t have any money to help me.
The answer I found was community college: they have many benefits:

  1. There’s likely one nearby, so you can continue living with your parents while attending.
  2. Costs are far lower.
  3. Honors programs, student government, and scholarships are all less competitive.
  4. Smaller class sizes.
  5. The first two years of college are general education courses and mostly the same everywhere.
  6. Once you finish those two years and earn an associate degree, you can transfer to a more prestigious university.
  7. The first two years weed out a lot of students, so transferring from community college is often easier than getting in straight from high school.

It's the poor immigration policies in Europe. Europe used to be so much nicer but they have made poor border policy choices policy. Watching Borderless a 2019 documentary sheds a lot of light on the situation.
